Last night I went to a trip but fall into a problem, after travelling 8 - 10 kms, car seems to gone out of fuel but I am sure there is 10 liter or more in tank and fuel gauge is near 40%. Car hesitates and engine stall, but after 2 or 3 min it starts again and then after half km again same happens. This happens 2 - 3 times. So i stop the car and start inspection.

Ignition and current seems good.
Check oil, no problem. Oil is coming into the head with good pressure.
Check water, its full. Temperature gauge is also at normal position so no heat up issue.

But when I accelerate water comes out from radiator as more as I accelerate like vomiting. I have newly built engine and there is less possibility of blown Gaskit. No symptoms of water and oil mixing not in radiator as well as on oil cap.

After all this, I converted my car to CNG and then come to home. On CNG car running smoothly.

Do you guys have any idea about this problem?

For me the culprit is fuel pump which is not supplying enough fuel. Or maybe jet clogged (but why, I also have fuel filter and its good).

Problem solved, very strange issue. When i am looking for the problem i found no fuel is coming to the inlet of carburetor, then i found broken fuel pipe near fuel pump so i replaced them all with good quality pipes.

But issue not resolved and fuel still not coming, finally i decided to look deeper. Try to pump air in fuel line going into the tank but something blocking it, so pull out fuel tank and check fuel lines, after all no blockage found no any dirt nothing. Put back everything and fuel start coming.

I guess this is all because of some air lock. Hence problem solved

Have you checked the breather vent on the fuel tank?
It has a one way valve i guess if that is installed in opposite direction that can also cause a problem.

Yes I blow air trought it into the tank and its working, on suction its close and make difficult to suck air.

Minor issue but like headche. Now its not starting on petrol, convert to cng and start like champ, convert back to petrol and everything fine. Smooth idle and running. Its only happen when start after a long time like next day. Any idea?

Update: On choke fully pulled (close) it starts on petrol.

Looks like the idle passage in your car's carbeurator is blocked. Open up the carb and clean it throughly with plenty of carb cleaner and compressed air.

@hassantahir2, Thanks. Actually carburetor service done recently, but my air cleaner assembly is not air tight and I doubt its taking lot of dust inside. Can you plz tell me specifically which are the idle ports so I can clean them with compreesed air and carburetor cleaner.

Also I am going to buy rubber seals or complete new air cleaner assembly soon.

With the carb mounted on the engine we can only spray carb cleaner in float vents and down the carb throat.
The idle passage and all other passages can only be cleaned by opening up the carburetor and cleaning each and every thing thoroughly.
It would be better to change the rubber seals or complete filter assembly before doing any carb work.

Solved, took my carburetor to expert, he serviced it once again, he told me "pump main kachra agaya hai". In mean time i also replaced its fuel filter as old one have a lot of dirt inside.

Also waste some time to find air cleaner assembly rubber seals but unable to fine them. Finally took my old motor cycle tube cut it and make it in shape of a ring, put it in between lower and upper part of assembly. After couple of efforts I got success making it air tight. Now its sucking much more air from its mouth.

But still engine not stall if I put hand on its inlet, but much better than before.

Does it have some rubber seal where the air filter housing sits on carb mouth. If that is damaged/not present then it could be a issue there.
Otherwise the rubber seal that is on the outer side of the air filter housing cover must be damaged.

Thank you for prompt reply as always, you remind me very good thing. Yes O ring seal is present on carburetor throat but CNG venture is in between and it does't have any seal on top of it.

There is also a rubber seal at the lid of the air filter housing along it's circumference which makes the air cleaner housing air tight so that it can only suck air from the pipe.

Dear PW friends,

Need recommendation for OIL change. Recently overhaul engine and its almost 700kms done, I am going for the first oil change. Now which grade should I use, normally SAE 20-50 seems to be favorite for old vehicles.

I was using Caltex Havolin CNG SAE 20-50 in my previous ride and also quite satisfied.

20W50 is not required after the overhaul.
Go for SGO Premium, 10W-40.
I am using it in my Khyber. It has done 15,000 Kms after the overhaul. No oil decrease at all. I drain the oil after 3500 Kms.

Same happened with me, I do all mechanical work at home. but still I was confused that my car is reducing water without any symptom.. I went to mechanic but he was still confused and said let it be..

now come to a Problem, Start your car at night.. and use a Torch to see a small hole on the top of Water pump, you will be able to see slight water at the edge of hole running inside hole, If YES... replace water pump. masla hal hujae ga..
