As described you did a dry test.
In Wet CT a small quantity of Engine Oil (5ml) is injected in each cylinder through the spark plug port before installing test gauge.
In a healthy engine wet CT results are 10-20 PSI more than dry test.
Dry/Wet CT Results can be helpful in diagnosing the following:
Bad rings, Dry test result will be low and it will get higher (>20PSI) with wet test
Bad Valve, Dry test result will be low but it will not get better (<10PSI) with wet test
Bad Head Gasket, Dry test might be low, doesnt get better with wet test and two side by side cylinder gives the same result.
Full throttle while cranking during the CT is mandatory to allow maximum air intake in the cylinders to compress. In your case as this was not done so the results may be inaccurate.
Repeat the test as per procedure you now know and also ask them to perform wet test to interpret any problem.
