what mileage per liter everybody is getting from your khybers? i am getting 10-12 in local rawalpindi murree road commuting.

Thanks for the quick reply guys! There are two parallel pipes going into the firewall so those must be the heater core ones? For how much did you get your tsat valve and is the gasket easily available?

Yes, those are heater pipes which take water to heater matrix located inside dash.
I bought kabli thermostat valve for 400 Rs but if you want to buy a thermostat, I would advise you to buy a new Japanese one. It would cost around 700-800 Rs. I also wanted to buy a new one because my experience with previous kabli thermostat wasn't that good but the shop which sells genuine parts was vary far and I didn't have much time due to my exams.
Yes its gasket is easily available for 20-30 Rs.

Well I am getting 10.5 km/l, my commute is DHA II to Isb via peshawar road.

Waisay kal abu k gari ki maintenance kerwa k laya tha and they changed the fuel filter after 40k mileage. And I just realized that my khyber which we bought in 2002 has never had its fuel filter changed. And its been driven on CNG since 2004 or 2005 I guess. So I am thinking that I should get it changed now

1) How much would a khyber's fuel filter cost me?

2) There is some gap in the butterfly, its a small gap but does it affects the mileage? Can it be repaired or will I have to buy the whole throttle body?

Thanks! I'll try to find one for the price you mentioned. Is there any local name for thermostat? Meaning when i ask the shopkeeper for a "thermostat valve" will he understand what i'm saying ?

I have two questions to ask regarding car's cooling/heating system.

1) Does auto fan starts at the same time when thermostat valve opens up?

2) If the answer to the above question is yes, then why the radiator heats up before the auto fan is started. I am talking about starting a cold car. What makes radiator hot if the water is not flowing from engine block to radiator. Or does that happening to my car only.

Last summer season my Khyber's head gasket was blown. I replaced it with a new one and mechanic told me that Thermostat valve is faulty, so he removed it.

Before the start of this winter season I installed a kabli thermostat in it. But the car is running cold. Fan is automatic. The temperature gauge keep sitting on C. The gauge is not faulty because if I get stuck in traffic, it rises a little.

The heater of the car is also not working as it used to work. The air it throws is normal air, not cold not hot.

What can be the issue? Can it be due to radiator cap or a very very small leak in the cooling system?
I pour almost a glass of water in coolant reservoir after 2 weeks.

Today I have changed the thermostat of my Khyber. Lets see it solves the issue or not.

This is the position of temperature needle after driving the car around 13 Km in the morning in moderate traffic.
The auto fan starts with this position and then the needle does not go above this point.
The heater is giving mild warm air.
I don't think it is working as it should. The needle used to go at around 40% last season with the same gauge.
The issue still persists. What can be the issue? @xulfiqar your help is needed.

well i am gonna also install also a thermostat valve in my khyber. Recently done the head work, new gaskit and serviced the radiator.
lets hope i don't encounter this issue lolz

It isn't showing negative reading. Its showing a bit cold engine. But I have shown it to two mechanics. Both of them checked the auto on/off duration of the fan and said that it is working absolutely fine but I am not convinced.

I checked by replacing it but the results were same so I returned it and installed the previous one.

1. the fan starts more or less at the same temperature.

2. There is a small hole in the thermostat valve for bleeding. Through which the warm water reaches the radiator. But there should be no rapid flow in the radiator. When the T-stat valve opens you will be seeing whirling flow in radiator.

thermostat valve and auto fan dont work simultaneously. thermostat valve is usually marked at 82 C means it starts to open a little when temp of coolant reached 82C.but mostly auto fan kicks in at 100C +-5.thermostat is there to maintain minimum temperature for engine.
