Sep 2-4&10-14 2011: Kaghan Valley; A trip to 12 Lakes & Preparation trek of Miranjani

Just for your knowledge, near Shogran, there is a turn on this jeep trek that goes to Malakandi directly surpassing Paras high in these mountains.

I forgot to take the shot of exact location but the trek is there.

This area is just before Shogran. There used to be a "Pul-e-Saraat" in this area; a very dangerous jeep crossing on the edges of the trek. But now this trek is quite wide and stable.

I have traveled on this track when I visited the Kaghan valley for the very first time in 2001. It was one of the most beautiful tracks on which I have ever traveled. This time in June 2011 I asked about this track from a Jeepwala in Shugran and he told that it is closed due to land sliding near Malakandi and he also said that whoever has traveled on this track once always inquires about this track.

Excellent unbelievable photography......... and adventure filled tour....
I think going to Sat Sar Mala lakes will not be possible before End of July or even August as in June and early July there must be quite a lot of snow on the track.
Last year I have been on the Babusar top three times (In June and July) and had I know about the Sambak Sar and Dharam Sar lakes I definitely would have gone there.....

Yes i think end of July or early August should be good time to visit Sat Sar Mala Lakes with some snow left.

Sambak Sar and Dharam Sar are beautiful lakes with a very peaceful and calm atmosphere.

I came to know about this route in 2010.

We stopped there to decide whether to go to Naran through this route but it was late afternoon so driver advised to use the regular route.

The reason u-turn is important bcoz otherwise u will be distracted towards this heaven and it is not Miranjani

Miranjani is on the back and these are left shoulder peaks of Miranjani if u are facing Nathia Gali.

Shah ji was leading the way and i was asking him after every few moments whether he could see Fairy Lake towards right and he was telling me yes he could see a small lake.

I was confused as Fairy Lake is quite big. When i crossed that point, this is what was being called a lake by Shah ji the Great

Yaar, waisay i had started watching and enjoying this thread 4-5 days back and mazay ki baat k i have just reached to page no 82... Someone once said, writers apnay qalam se aisi kahani likhta hai k loag uss mein apnay apko mehsoos krnay lagtay hain... Now I Say, a good photographer may do the same thing too... and if he is a good writer/narrator then these type of fine travelogue comes out by the great voyagers...!!

If you want a compact cam for landscapes then u can choose between the following:

- Canon S95
- Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5
- Olympus XZ-1

A few options which are compact with big zoom:

- Canon PowerShot SX230 HS
- Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX9V

Superzoom with manual controls like DSLRs

- Panasonic Lumix FZ150
- Canon PowerShot SX40 HS

But if u want a DSLR for beginners then get Nikon D3100 with kit lens.

What about Canon 550D ?????

All other programs postponed and Leepa Valley is now on TOP PRIORITY ..... my first sight love hehe

I am planning to leave Inshallah on 2nd or 3rd day of Eid for Leepa Valley for 4-5 days trip as i want to relax there and not just run through the place.

So, if u are interested then please confirm in advance as i will arrange army permissions through my contacts well in advance for the area as we need to get clearance from 2 army brigades to do the trip and trekking.

Can we hire a jeep from babusar top to daramsar/sambaksar lake? Or the last place to find and hire jeep is at Jalkhad?
