I am visiting Nothren Areas for last 4 years especially on Motorbike. Dont write much on PW as im not good in writing. Sometimes i do, just to remember for myself.
This last weekend i planned for Shandur on the Polo festival. My traveling partner was busy in some family matters and i dont feel comfortable with other people. so i planned solo trip.
Bike: Suzuki GS 150
No. of PPl: Solo ride.
Duration: 3 Days.
I left my home at Lalazar Rwp at 11:45 pm on Thursday. Took first break at Chakdara after about 3:15 hrs. Then left for Dir. Entered Dir Bazaar at fajar time. I always prefer traveling in night as there is no traffic rush and escapes from sun heat. Crossed Lowari Top at stopped on a small hotel after Lowari for breakfast. and then faced the most boring breakfast which i dont like much. Special fried paratha of Nothren areas and a cup of tea. There is no metaled road at Lowari. its bumpy road where you cant accelerate.
Reached Chitral at approx 10:00 in the morning, where i spent some time just wandering the Bazaar. Bought a chitrali cap for my father and then moved on for Shandur.
Road from Chitral till Booni is okay, but the real fun starts from Booni. A long long way of un-paved rocky terrain starts, which never ends. Locals told me the it will take about 6-7 hrs reaching shandur top from Booni. i just carried on solo with normal pace.
After 2-3 hrs, i was much tired and bored from this track. The road never gives you a chance to see something except the road.
As it was first day of Shandur, not many tourist from other areas were traveling. Only local people of chitral were going towards Shanur on motorbikes and some of jeeps/4x4s.
i took the first glimpse of Shandur lake at 5:10 pm Friday. Which means it was 17:25 hrs of continuous ride. but for a traveler its not justified, when you reached your destination.
