Shangla pass status

Well a few years back me and my family crossed over to the KKH from swat valley through shangla pass. starts from khwazakhela and meets the KKH around besham i think. Around that time road was good,

Anyone have any information on the current road condition?

Also, im considering to go to chillas via babusar pass, there are a lot of threads regarding this but there is a lot of confusion, some people are saying its purely 4x4, where others suggest it can be done on car with not much to worry about. people are saying last year after floods all traffic was diverted to this pass, also on some thread someone said that there friend came back from gilgit via KKH and the locals told him that babusar pass would have been easier and more comfortable O.o? so anyone out there with reliable information please help.

We'll be leaving in'shallah on 15th june.

Car in question is a Hyundai Santro exec 1.0L, (spacers added to shocks)

i went to Swat through Besham in 2006 and that time road was in poor condition and in some places some construction work was also going on.. so not sure if any thing has improved later..

as kkh was closed at that time therefore peoples have to adopt babusar top.
Otherwise it is not possible to cross babusar pass on car at present, may be in near future after completion of road.

We visited lulusar lake in 2010 & 2009 and found that cars should not go beyond jalkhand.

bro the road between Khwazakhela and shangla is the best portion its one of the best road in swat now a days.From shangla onwards the road towards besham is some how kacha but it can be done via a car or any sort of vehicle.

from what i have gathered the road is great now and easily done.....

i went in 2006 and 7 and road was terrible then..... but now its great

Cars can cross Babusar pass, as mentioned by some of the members . It's not advisable though. Especially, if you own the car

I went from besham to swat via shangla pass last tear road was about 70% complete till shangla pass and 90% complete till khwaza khela but bad patches require alot of patience and completed portion is peace of mind
