Hi We Paramount Adventure Club is organizing an event to Sharan forest Kaghan valley in March.

** Plan details: **

* Day-1 (1-March 2013 Friday) Departure from Lahore/Islamabad to Mansehra

Day-2 (2-March Saturday) Travel to Paras by hiace/bus. 2, 2.5km Jeep trek and then 3 hour trekking to Sharan forest rest house.

Day-3 (3-March Sunday) Few hour for exploring beauty of Sharan forest and leave back to paras through trekking and jeep and then travel back to Lahore by Hiace/bus. We will reach Lahore early morning.

From Mansehra (or Balakot), you can hire a jeep which will take you to Sharan Forest. It will be pretty much doable in end of March.

Just recently, these guys (https://www.pakwheels.com/forums/road-trips-vacations/209844-trek-sharan-forest-kaghan-valley) completed Sharan Forest on 1st March 2013, so by end of March it will be even better.

Thanks, yes it was a wonderful destination. If I get the chance again, I'll explore a bit deep into the forest.

I have a question. What is the weather like in March/April? And if i plan to camp then what attractions am i talking about here?
Is it safe going deep in the jungle at night?

Beautiful place,away from Naran's rush. visited it for few hours. Zulfi Bhai imagine coming down from there in night and in Heavy rain.

You can camp but its better to rent the forest rest house because there is danger of big cats. And I am sure in March, the last stretch would be snow covered.

AOA. I am totally new to this forum. While searching for some information on the Sharan forest near Paras (Kaghan valley), I chanced upon this discussion page which I found very useful. Just talked to Mr. Umair Afridi at the KP Tourism organization @ 091-9211091 in Peshawar. I wanted to visit the Sharan forest in coming August 2018 with my family of 5. He informed me that I can come to Paras in my own car, park the car at the Greens Hotel there. From there, the jeep will charge us Rs. 4K to 4.5 K for a two way trip and take us to Sharan which is 13kms from Paras. The cost of the Pod (The cylinder type rooms) is Rs. 2,500 for two beds & Rs. 4,000 for 4 beds. We have to bring our own un-cooked food although a kitchen, a cook and a cooking facility is available there.

We can also hike to the Manshi peak which is about a 3 hour's hiking distance from here and thus enjoy the beauty, quiet and the serenity of this place. So what are we waiting for!
