Very logical answer and m happy that at least there r people who understand engine oils.

I have been arguing on pakwheels but our people who r guided by their mechanics don't understand the reality. Cars engine operates at a particular temperature, oils job is not only to lubricate but importantly to transfer the heat n to act as a heat carrier. 5w30 flows better and transfers heat better. Being synthetic it's more stable, it's molecules r more symmetric and polymers r more strong. People who say to change full synthetic oils at 5000 Kms are misguiding others. Even if u check oil properties after 10000 Kms from a lab oil will still be perfect. I want to salute those who say that they checked oil viscosity with hand n oil was perfect, plz dnt misguide u cnt check viscosity by hand.

A clean oil after 5000 Kms is a bad oil, oil should come dirty out of Ur car. I used shell helix hx 7 for 4 years in my cultus, a daily runner wen I sold it was clocked at 150000 Kms n car was perfect. I changed HX 7 at 7000 Kms n never had a single problem. I request all to not misguide anyone if u r not sure about some thing.

Another important job of oil is to clean engine, it should not allow sludge to settle in cars engine. Modern oils contain high quality detergents which clean engine. It like putting dirty cloth in detergent water, water becomes dirty but detergent cleans the cloth. So oil should come out dirty if its clean it means oil is not doing the job. Please visit shell's website n read details of ultra or hx7 or hx5 or visit caltex or mobil, all talk about cleaning the engine.

Synthetic Oil always do the trick & if u luv ur Machine then 5W-30 is the perfect grade as per Pakistani weather conditions

hx7 is synthetic blend, which means it has some percentage of synthetic oil mixed with mineral oil. Helix ultra on the other hand is fully synthetic oil and provides maximum protection for extended periods of time. So, if you can get a good quality (real genuine) oil filter, I would recommend you to go for ultra and use it for extended interval of 10,000+ km. hope this helps

fully synthetic doesn't mean to use it for colder or cooler climate......I ve been using it almost every cars from markx to petrol vigo from last 3 years....changing oil at 6500-7k km....getting perfect average n no seal damage or other prob......almost every new petrol car in the world r using fully synthetic...even Honda atlas give fully synthetic total quartz

tht strange i ve seen early 2000 car to mid 2005 cars using fully synthetic oil in Saudi n UAE....all the companies recommend fully synthetic as i ve notice big difference in fuel consumption, feel lighter n better response in my bro altis 1.6 2012 model as toyota indus was using mineral oil n i switch to fully synthetic...it was big difference in car response n fuel consumption.....btw do ask farrukh N20 as he also using fully synthetic for his built all motor K24 :P....royal purple n redline oil these big oil companies r making fully synthetic especially for race engine n built cars...mineral oil is history now!

P.S u can find high viscosity fully synthetic like castrol make 10w60 for E60 M5 n E90/E92 high rev n/a engine....here i ve seen 5w50 fully synthetic mobil 1

changing engine oil depends upon car's engine condition. If its brand new than go with the car manufacturer otherwise inquire your mechanic. Periodically check the dip-stick for oil viscosity & specially if you feel that oil color is changed.

well i think 5w40 or 5w50 is perfectly fine for our climate as some of these brand r made in malaysia n some r made in saudi/uae n u know their climate is almost like our climate.....fully synthetic as in uk, us n japan they use mostly 0w20, 5w30 not more than tht btw m not talking about winter only i felt difference in summer/hot/humid climate which is like 10 months of khi....even after 6k km i feel stickiness on dip stick of fully synthetic
