I just changed total 9000 0w 20 today at 5 k drain interval . Feeling sheepish . But i think Oil filter must be changed at 5 k . Does 0w 20 comes in 1L pack.

Bro, as per my experience with this oil in my ex-ride Passo, I used to drain it after 5K Kms max. along with oil filter change. It costed me even less than 1 PKR / Km. Although its fully synthetic and best for bucks, but can't be compared with premium and expensive brands, like Liqui Moly, Amsoil, Mobil 1, etc.

As per my experience, it used to get deteriorated and dirty by 5K Kms. You may experience something different than me and it may go as even high as 6-7K Kms, however, still, in any case, do not drag it for more than this, or 06 months, whichever comes first.

Nope Brother. I have no experience with Liqui Moly engine oils. So can't say anything.

In case of best for bucks oils, like Total Quartz 9000 Future Series, and cars like 660 or 1000 cc locally assembled / used JDMs, these both may be changed at 5K Kms.

Yes, but in ZIC and Caltex Chevron. Shell needs to be checked, and currently not available in Total Quartz 9000 Future series.

Yes just one pack. I get it from there on discount cz of a reference. Actual price is 2800 for 4L pack.
3300 is a bit steep for it.

Yes. That would be good, but isn't 0w-20 too thin for use in Corolla? especially PKDM (and not the JDM) variants? Shouldn't one go for at least 5w-30? (Pardon, if I missed something above)

OK. Yes, it isn't available in 1L and 3L packing currently, as per my knowledge. Its available in 4L packing.

I have a chat with my Oil guy regarding my Xli 2008 model clocked 162k kms uptill now! I am not aware from the oil grade which previous owner used. I have asked him that I am interested i pouring 10w40 in it and suddenly he see me very awkwardly and said "bhai woh oil naye engines kai liyai hain...iskai liyai kaafi patla hogae ga!"
Now suggest what should I do? Secondly can I use 20W50 SN grade in Corolla?

My 2005 civic has 176000 kms on the odo and I use Total 5w30 with 7000 kms drain interval.

Is it necessary to exactly fill 4.2 Ltrs of Oil in 1ZR-FE and 2ZR-FE engines? Won't 4L qty be enough as it's in normal range as per owner manual. 4.2 L will be extremely close to over filling it and most of our Oil Change centres don't measure the exact 4.2 L

brother 4.2 is the recommended fill in value stick with it. 3S use a small beaker to measure extra 200 ml.

For 1ZR-FE, the oil requirements are 4.7L ( http://mywikimotors.com/toyota-1zr/ ) and for 2ZR-FE, the requirements are 4.2L ( http://mywikimotors.com/toyota-2zr/ )

IMO, its always best to follow the owners / users manual, and always fill the oil as mentioned in the manual. Neither under fill, nor over fill, just up to the brim.

If you will fill up to 4L, it will not touch the max. mark, and might get started decreasing afterwards.

In this case, I propose that the owner may buy a small beaker / any other utensil for the said purpose, which has at least 200 ml marking (or any other capacity, as desired). After pouring 4L, measure additional quantity in that beaker, and pour. No need to look for ustaads / mechanics for their approximation.

I propose, one should have his personal funnel as well for pouring in oil.

200ml is easy as 123 since all bottles..1L packs have markings...for example quartz 9000 had markings on bottle. I get 4L filled from oil change staff abdt put 200ML myself

I do try to fill exact 4.2L Qty. 3S Dealers have graduated flasks, but their charges are way high for a simple Oil change, so one has to look towards Local Mechanics or some reputable brands. Despite instructing, local mechanics still overfill a little (like 50-100 ml), as markings on Oil Bottle is the only means of measurement for them but these are marked after 500 ml. Having own graduated flask/ cylinder is a good idea.

Secondly, one of my acquaintance informed that he only fills 4L and many owners in Pakistan do so, as it is within the normal range on dipstick. User manual also states that further filling is required only if oil mark is below or nearing lower end of dipstick mark. As long as your engine is good and there's no oil reduction issue, oil within normal range is fine. Furthermore, having 200ml under top mark is better than having 20ml overfilled. Probably he is right, but i just wondered what procedure the majority is following ? Relavant Pictures of Owners Manual are attached

Totally agreed. For simple engine oil change, I would never suggest a dealership, unless / until, vehicle is under warranty, and the owner is bound to do everything from the dealership, so that the warranty remains intact.

Yes, local mechanics are mostly confident regarding their instinct / Andaaza (which is sometimes wrong).
