Shell Helix Ultra for Pak VIGO

Hi, I was wondering if I can use Helix Ultra 5w40 in my Vigo. Currently Im using Japanese Toyota SN/CF 5w30 synthetic oil which says it can be used for both petrol and diesel engines. I believe Helix Ultra is also SN/CF and should be alright but I want to be sure.

Toyota Genuine Motor oil 5w30 which comes from Japan in a tin packing is very good. Why do you want to change it?
Is it the availability issue? Because last time I had to search a lot for it at Islamabad dealerships.
Mostly Petron is available which is a local oil.

Availability isn't an issue. I want to use 5w40 oil and not sure if toyota genuine comes in that viscosity. Secondly when I searched shell global they had helix ultra regular and specifically for diesel as well and I could only get the regular version here not the diesel one.
If I remember correctly both the toyota and shell are SN/CF therefore in my opinion could be used for both petrol and diesel engines. Just wanted to know if there's someone who has used helix ultra and his opinion on the product.

Shell Helix Ultra is good oil. This is also ACEA A3/B3/B4 approved; so good for vigo diesel engine. I am currently using Mobil Delvac 1. But if I was not using Mobil my next choice would definitely have been Shell Helix Ultra. Shell is also 5W-40 which in my opinion should give better performance in round the year usage under Pakistani climate. Many people here prefer Caltex Delo 15W-40 also. But I have previously a bad experience with this oil. Use Caltex only if your vigo's mileage is above 150,000kms and it has already started consuming oil.

Use Shell Rimula R4X or Delo Gold, these are HDEOs which have really nice strong additive package and good TBN too. Ultra is good oil but i wont use it in diesel toyota.

Delo 15w-40 is the preferred oil here but I'd prefer a synthetic oil over mineral. Mileage of my Vigo is 19k kms so I reckon I have a long way to go before switching to a 10w40 or 15w40 viscosity. Besides, the owner's manual also recommends 0w30 for colder regions and 5w30 for optimum performance and fuel efficiency.

If you are located at Karachi, you can easily find a Mobil distributor; just google it. btw you are right about availability of Mobil Delvac 1 but I actually buy in cartons of 4x5 liters from the distributor at wholesale price :). Many people prefer Delo Gold and I do not oppose their logic since if you are using genuine oils the difference in performance, fuel economy or engine life is barely perceptible in most of the cases. But this is a fact also that you can't compare mineral oils with synthetics. Its like comparing gold with silver. I am personally a freak so I opt the best I can get for my car. Cheers,

Thank you, I have been following your advice but should I be concerned with my imported 1KD engine? The ACEA for R4X is E7 not the recommended C2.
