IMO, change interval depends on the duration mentioned in the owners / users manual, and as far as I know, it is around 5,000 Kms, for most of the locally available cars.
However, at the same time, Fully Synthetic, VS Semi Synthetic, VS Mineral does matter too. Fully Synthetics last longer and can sustain long drain intervals. The graph goes down in semi synthetic, and in Mineral oils further.
