Shifter stuck in Park W220

I saw the hammer technique on you tube but only 2 things to note

1. It does not always work
2. It is not recommended

the you tube guy is using a steel hammer, thats bad, use a deadblow with a hard wood slug in between, it jerks the lock and you can release it by pulling the gear shift lever. The trick is not to be a caveman with a hammer, In two or three cases I have had to get under the car and disconnect the linkage and move the transmission out of park. Once its out of Park you can roll the car.

You can use a shifter from the junkyard it will work fine the only thing you have to do is remove the electrical PCB from the original and put it on the donor

please add that it works if the original PCB is in working order, most of the deaths of this car are due to the shifter being doused with sugary coffee or coke/pepsi.
