Shipping laptop from Canada: Need advice regarding Duty and GST

Assalam o Alaikum!

The scenario is that my friend is holding a laptop for me in Canada. There are no chances of bringing it personally so I am thinking about the postal services.

I have compared all the services and have agreed for Canada Post @ 150 USD including insurance.

The laptop has been opened to check and so does not fall under the 'sealed' banner.

I have consulted the Custom Rules as well as the sales act:

THE FIRST SCHEDULE
(PAKISTAN CUSTOMS TARIFF)
PCT Code 8471.3020 - - - Personal computers --- Custom Duty 0 %

- Parts and accessories of the machines of heading 84.71: all Custom Duty 0 % (Charger etc)

I have tried my best to trace the rumored 16% GST on computer related imports but haven't been able to establish it so far.

Could any of you, who actually have imported a laptop recently, guide me about anything I might have missed? Are there any hidden charges?

Moreover, the laptop would be marked as gift and would not be in its original packaging. I will also make sure that my friend doesn't mention the price anywhere. Let me know if I am on the right track.

i have not imported but a fellow member from pakgamers.com imported one.
there is NO custom tax on laptop but local gpo try to bull **** u to get sme cash out of u.when the laptop arrived they loded the guy with BS that he has to pay 12k but after using a source he got it out of them without paying a single ruoee to them .
jshak pakwheels member and pakgamers owner has a good source ask him about it.he also provides a shipment facility from us which is going to be alot cheeper.

yar call dhl,,,,they have whole list of things and duty money,,,,thr help line will tell u the exact money,,,,and,,,as u r an individual ,,,not a commercial importer so no need to worry,,,,,just import on an invidual name and house address,,,,,dnt gve any company address or name in address info,,,,,

^^^^ o yara call them to ask the duty only!!!!! shipping tu unki bht exp hogy...... as u have already chosen canada post ,,,,so bus pak custom ka scene pata kr lo,,,,o allah ka name le kr bhej do!
and also double chk the shipping cost ,,,,,its better u call thr pak office,,
