Short trip to northern Areas of Pakistan

Hi All,

It’s good to find a forum to ask questions, I am planning a trip to northern areas of Pakistan 5 or 6 day trip. I am from Karachi and have travelled by road from Karachi many times to mutter, Bhubaneswar, kaghan, naran, Lalusar, babusar, Shogran, Siri, Paye and some other locations....

This time I am planning a trip from Islamabad, I will be flying from Karachi and renting a car from Islamabad ( so any good and reasonable car rental company which could provide me newer car at least Toyota Corolla automatic).

I am confused where to travel, should I plan a visit to Skardu, is it ok to go to Skardu in this weather.. and what about roads, or should I plan Neelum Valley, but I am not sure about hotels, in this trip I am looking for comfort, since I had been away from Pakistan and I am going to the North after 10 years. Please help me set up an itenerary to the best places I can visit in 6 days with good hotels like Serena, hotel One or PC...
Quality hotel is what we prefer.

Welcome to Pakwheels Sir.
If you have never been to Northern Areas of Pakistan (Gilgit Baltistan) then you should plan for that instead of Neelum Valley. Gilgit Baltistan is pure beauty, you'll fall in love with it. The landscapes, road and mountains everything is amazing. You didn't mention when do you plan to leave?

Please mention the month, then I'll advise you accordingly.

I have limited time, my plan is to travel to Islamabad on 6th March and return islamabad 12 March so that I may take flight for Karachi.

Although Gilgit Baltistan would be very cold during this period, but still I'll recommend you to visit Gilgit, Hunza and its surrounding which is easily reachable in car. In Gilgit, you may hire a jeep for Naltar and enjoy Pakistan's most amazing skiing point.

Words are not enough to define the beauty of Hunza, go for yourself witness the amazing culture, history and stunning landscape. You'll see some sign of spring, though its just the beginning of spring there. Do let me know if you need Jeep with driver...

i will also make a plan to visit Swat and Hunza this month (march 25 ). Its a 7 days plan sargodha to sargodha. is it possible to visit mingora, kalam, hunza and khunjerab pass ? within 7 days with family ? and any idea about the jeep rates with fuel if we hire from malam jabb to huzna to khunjerab pass then back to malab jabba for 5 persons and 1 child. and may be 4 to 5 days.

and also suggest if there is any other good plan expect the above 1 like some days in swat side and then may be we go for Nelum valley or some other side? in march end . i want to visit sawat and naran but i think naran is not accessible in the end of this month that why i think about huzna.

Walekum Salam, its good to post your query in a separate thread for getting better response.

Anyways, here is my suggestion. covering swat side and north in a single trip is not feasible and that too in just 7 days. Even I don't recommend people to cover whole Gilgit Baltistan in a single go.

Either go to Swat side or go directly to Azad Kashmir or Northern Areas, Pick One. Don't be in rush to cover many areas in single trip.

Trip to Swat / naran / hunza in March End (Needs suggestions)

i will make a plan to visit Swat and Hunza or swat and naran or swat and kashmir side this month end. we have 7 days from Sargodha to Sargodha. Just a confusion which one is better w.r.t our current scenario. We want to cover maximum places in this trip. 2 to 3 years back we already visit murree, mathya gali, aubya, patriata and sabri abshar and now we want to explore something new. yes i read you thread. i have some questions for you.

1- you mention that Besham to Hunza (13hrs drive) so you use public transport or you hire any jeep, reaaon for thi s question tha i go with my family and its very difficult for us if we go in public transport. if you use jeep or any car can you share the jeep rent?
2- Availability of hotels in beshum. chillas and Hunza and their rough rates.
3- Jeep rent in Hunza
4- For long distances did you choose public transport or hire any jeep and availability of public transport and jeep in a very early morning .
