simple test, ask them why didnt the manufacturer spray it in production? Cars have been shipped on top of sea going ships for a long time, you cannot get more corrossive than that environment,
The manufacturer has provided a wax coating, its promptly washed away by "service stations" in Pakistan and the final nail in coffin is diesel, oil, grease, and other lunacies like caustic ash, kerosene, olive oil, raspberry juice, etc etc etc.
If you want a picture of 20 year old factory wax coating then look here. This is a 20 year old American built Toyota Camry with more than 270,000 miles on it (432000 kms) - the wax is starting to flake off now.
For Pakistani awaam this looks ugly and dirty - so they have it promptly scrubbed off and sprayed with diesel fuel for "chamak damakk shine" - which is washed off quite easily and then the rust party starts.
This product is available in aftermarket but is a bit pricey and smells like crayons and requires a thorough cleaning before its applied. Its also sprayed heavily in all trapped cavities to prevent water condensing and rusting out seam joints.
