Should I buy an S2000 or a 04 Audi A8L? somewhat first car

Salam,

its about time I get my first own car...It has to be one I can drive daily
I have looked through all the cars than I can get in my budget...
and after narrowing my choices down, i am left with
2001-2002 Honda S2000 150,000kms
2004 rx-8 60,000 kms
2004 Audi A8L 181,000kms
2004 G35 Coupe 170,xxxkms
1991 850i 140,000kms (probably not cuz of maintainance cost)
2003 LS430 170,000kms
1999 LS400 255,000kms
2004 350z 180,000kms
1990 300zx 2+2 with tt engine swap, greddy turbo kit...running 15psi...close to 500hp but an old car

The A8L does have the best interior with orange and black leather but with 181,000kms and really high repair costs I am not sure if its a good idea. It does have the best interior...
The car I found drives like new, looks like new, still smells almost new.. the transmission fluid flush from the dealership for an A8 costs $550+tax

I really want the S2000 as well but then its only got 2 seats and the suspension might be too stiff..

rx-8 takes too much fuel and the engine maintainance cost is near the A8 due to engine rebuilds

Do you have any experience with any of these?? Which do u think i should get?

so apparently u are left with only
1) 2004 G35 Coupe 170,xxxkms (seems reasonable)- but again a 2 door
2) 2003 LS430 170,000kms (comfortable)
3)1999 LS400 255,000kms (an OLD ONE)
4) 2004 350z 180,000kms (Seems reasonable) - but again a 2 door

If i were u , i would've gone for option # 2 (although its a huge car : considering ur first) but would be serving the purpose
As its ur first car so u might be having limited experience with driving and regarding Mechanical and Electrical info about the cars , so better stay away from TUNED cars or any other in the same category

rx8 is heavy on fuel and needs periodic care and maintenance.it has the lowest miles so its better of the lot.

all the other cars you have mentioned have to much mileage unless u have alot of time money to get them fixed every now and then

one is a roadstar, other is a limo.. donest make sense. buy something in middle.

if yr in saudi arabia, then stay away from audi,, audi runs better in colder climate

if yr in toronto,, s2000 will be uncomfortable,, probably same situation in Leicester..

yr looking at higher priced cars with low price tag and high mileage.

i rather you buy yrself a compact mercedes or BMW. if that is out of budget,, check out VW and Mazda.

Filter the mileage search at 50,000 range and look at what options you have.

The A8L seems by far the best to me but the repair costs are not affordable...
eg: one of the metal coolant pipes needs to be replaced to access the oil filter...everytime the oil is changed...
Transmission fluid flush over $650
$600 to re-flash ECU...
the transmission has a TCU to control stuff

Im going for the S2000, rx-8 or 330ci...which ever I get a better deal on

I'm inshAllah a few months away from being able to get my first car as well. I basically decided to go over a few options to see what was within my reach over a total cost of ownership (includes all necessary and reasonable expenses). That said, I'm working in San Francisco and I'll be taking the subway to work everyday, so the car will see life only on the weekends. I assumed I'd drive 6-9k miles a year when the car is in use. Here's what I came up with:

I got insurance quotes to get exact estimates on what my yearly insurance premium would be.
I went on different forums for BMW's, Acura's, etc. to see what the average repair costs per year are.
Fuel costs were easy to estimate- 9000 miles at (x) mpg * average price of fuel.

Enthusiast cars are fun and great to drive, but VERY expensive to own and maintain. My estimate of $2000/y for the BMW's is still lower than what you should expect with any older model Audi. It's not uncommon to hear owners having to replace engines and transmissions at $4-6000 out of pocket. Keep that in mind when you look at German cars.

In any case, keep us updated with the search!

other than the rx8 all cars are very high milage,u can go for a8 or s2k but after testing the compression n checking the cars thoroly

Lexus LS 2003 as its the most reliable car of the bunch

Honestly depends on how old you are and what you need out of the car. From my perosnal experience, I would stay away from all of them being high mileage other than the s2k and g35. S2k as long as its not been trashed, it can go upto 3-400,000. I have owned three of them without any problems whatsoever. I have had one g35 and they are very nice and luxurious too and maintenance isn't too bad and they don't break down alot. So you are good

Out of these two cars I would go with the S. and stay away from any German car above 60,000 miles
