Should I buy Changhan Alsvin 1.5 Lumiere?

Recently I started to search for a compact sedan and found out that Alsvin is a good option considering the price and the amount of feature it provides, but I am concerned about the maintenance and resale value. I want to keep the car for about 4 to 5 years. I have a Yaris as primary car but want keep another one for small trips(20 to 30km max). I have heard some problems about the DCT transmission and engine knocking(correct me if I am wrong).

Kindly guide me whether I should buy an Alsvin or move toward the Japanese rivals.( I have a Yaris as 2nd vehicle)
Should I buy it used or new?

The DCT transmission should not give you any issues, if you handle it respectfully, and the engine knock I have never heard about. The Alsvin is a decent car and maintenance is like all other cars. Changan is doing rather well so dealership support should have you covered too in terms of spare parts.

I'm not too sure what the resale will be like but I cannot imagine it being too bad, it definitely won't be as good as a yaris or a city but 4 to 5 years is a long time and I think you would get your value out of it. I personally would would recommend to buy a used corolla altis instead. If you have your heart set on an Alsvin I would probably buy a used one, if there are decent options!

A new car is always recommend as it doesn't have major mechanical issues for nearly 5 years. You can drive with tension free with just periodic mantainance.

I have also heard issues about the transmission failures of Alsvin DCT but except for that it is a decent car with good suspensions and drive.

In this case @pwuser164163568474 is right. Resale of Toyota and Honda cars are far better as they have passed the test of time in Pakistan and their spare parts are also easily available.

You can also look for some Japanese cars or probably a used Corolla or City for resale values.

A new car definitely gives you a worry free experience! My recommendation to get a used one would purely be to get rid of the first chunk of depreciation that comes with a car without a perfect resale and the fact that the car is solid enough that it can still give value if bought used. If budget allows and one wants the premium feeling of getting a new car, definitely recommended.
