Hi. I'm thinking about purchasing a car for family. I had my eyes on Corolla XLI 2006 which is being sold quite cheap at 5.30 Lac PKR. However one of my friends advised me against purchasing a Sedan since I never drove a Bike or a Car before in my life. No one in my family knows how to drive. He told me if I hit the car anywhere, the car's value will go down tremendously. He told me purchase Mehran for cheap and until I'm confident enough to drive a car and become an expert, I should not look at Sedans or expensive cars.
I have set my budget for Mehran around 2.50 Lac. Today I went to a local car dealer. He had 2 Mehrans, both were 2003 version.
However one of them has Duplicate Papers or something and it doesn't have life time token. And that car's price is around 2.60 Lac. There is no AC, the seats are kinda clumsy, however the frame of the car and the engine is in pristine condition.
The other Mehran has original papers with life time token and everything. However the external of the car is relatively old looking & the car's frame is a little inclined towards the front (the car's frame is lower from the front and the backside of the car is higher from the ground). It also has deep scratches on Bonnet near Engine gril. It has no AC either. The seats are good and from inside the car looks fine at least better then the car with duplicate papers.
Now I'm confused which one to pick.
If I go with the duplicate paper car, how much would it cost to replace the seats of the car, may be install AC and get life time token? Will the car have resale value if I sell it may be after a year?
How much would it cost to renovate (remove scratches & fix the weird inclination of the frame) and polish the body of the Mehran with original copy papers?
What other things should I look out for before purchasing Used Mehran Car?
