Should i change grade of engine oil or not?

Went to Toyota 3s dealership for maintenance n oil change car is driven 88k n I'm first owner n I've driven with extra light foot that's how i drive so my engine is still pretty much like new soundless n from start i use Toyota's taglon 5w50 fully synthetic but today advisor at Toyota 3s asked to change the grade of oil as car is over 70k kilometers so we recommend u the 10w30 grade named petron plus oil n he said sir as the engine gets old 5w50 synthetic can harm ur engine on higher rpms or high speed cruising on motorways 140km+ so we recommend u 10w30 grade now n onwards for ur engine's long life but I'm skeptical about his statement he's the second one at toyota who recommends me to change the grade should i go semi synthetic 10w30?? Secondly what are pros n cons of sticking to 5w50 n what if i changed to 10w30 tau phir kya pros n cons hongy in short what difference I'll feel? Obviously price difference is there 10w30 is 1100 cheaper per 4 liter bottle

Since your warranty period is over, do yourself a favour and get Total Quartz 9000 5W30 and OEM oil filter. 5W30 is perfect for your car.

5w50 was not a good choice brother so change to 5w30 immediately and you will notice a difference in your vehicle.

I use 10w40 synthetic as it is hot like hell in Lahore. It works fine for me 5w50 is I guess too thick and becomes slugde and doesn't flow as it should when the car is hot.

5w50 was bad from the start.

5w30 at max is good, fully synthetic. Shell, Valvoline, Total.. get any from any of them.

10w40 is way too thick as well. For any type of weather.

There are so many threads on this forum regarding which oil to use in toyota. Many times, it has been concluded that toyota dealerships are still driven by "mechanic ustaad" mentality"mota aail daalna chaye".

And stupidest reason is that "pakistan wich bri garmi hay". LoL, some states in USA are hotter than pakistan. Middle east is hot. I mean there many countries with toyota prescense and hotter than pakistan in summer.Why does not toyota use "mota haail" there. Internationally they use mcuh thinner oil 0w20, 5w30.

Modern engines have complex mechanisms, like vvti in toyota engine, these requires sufficient lubrication. Only an engine oil with correct viscocity can provide such lubrication and avioid sludge build up and damage to engine.

And the end its ur car, do ur research, it is beneficial for dealerships to pour thicker oils and overtime damage ur engines. Otherwise how would they empty ur pockets.

Use 5w30 fully synthetic in ur case.

ive changed my oil grade from toyotas taglon 5w50 to 10w30 toyotas petron plus but im still confused between 5w30 n 10w30 btw both grades are recommended for 2nz-fe engine worldwide correct me if i`m wrong.

worldwide even 0w20 is recommended for this engine. check international yaris forums
