any idea what is current capacity (in amperes) required to fully recharge a Tesla, in Pakistan. What will be cost per kilometer to recharge a tesla from domestic wall outlet and an industrial wall outlet-

for the tesla model 3, there are two battery options, you can either opt the 50kwH or the extra range 75kwh battery pack

now the cost of juicing (running) it

lets say i have a 50kwh tesla .

1 kwh is equal to 1 unit of electricity , so 50 units would be needed to charge the battery completely, now in punjab, consumer electricity tarriff in home is around 12 rs / unit ( rounded ) . thats ( 12 x 50) , 600 PKR to fully charge your tesla in your home ( a slow process taking 6-7 hours since home voltage and current is low, )

now tesla advertised range for 50kwh model is 350 km on full charge, of course thats a sales number, ill assume 250 -275 km in real world conditions ( family on board, braking , accelarating etc ) .

so ,

600 ruppes per full charge in punjab= 260 km EV range

that around 2.3PKR per km running cost ,

with the base model price calculated by other member as 7.8 million .. it remain an expensive choice to own a Tesla. an orphan with Zero Support. Despite financing options available in for Tesla RHD variant in UK, review and number of units on-road are not very encouraging.

Congrats to the owner who imported it to Pakistan.

The best i can say about it is that we can stretch out upto 600 km out of fully charged battery if we are in city. Regenerative braking also saves energy and gives you power back.
We also know we have limited speed in Pakistan specially Karachi (60kmph to 80 kmph) according to Tesla if we stay under 60 kmph then we can get somewhere 600 km.

So whats the cost of charging ?
Approximately with my Idea it will cost you 230 Pak Rupees to charge till 100 percent to get 600 km. If we take the number 600 km with petrol then You know the amount
12 kmpl x 50 = 600 km.
1 LT petrol = 74 Rupees
74 x 50 LT= 3700 Rupees
3700 / 100 / = 37 * 6 = 222 Pak Rupees.

You are saving 94 Percent of your money which you waste on Petrol car.

However, I do not think other car manufacturers will ever allow tesla to come in Pakisan.
China might do something but not with the Tesla. Lets just keep some good hopes if we can see tesla on karachi roads.

we should all start an online petition to force the govt to allow EV imports

this is not a question of personal choice or wish, a cleaner green future ( of which EVs are a basic element ) is a question of our future generations .

france and Norway are targeting close to 80 percent EV adoption by 2030 , many other euro nations are following suit .

Importing electric cars right now will create a CNG type scenario.

When back in the days CNG had become our national fuel and the people went Bazooka to get their vehicles on Natural Gas.

But a few years later, the genius nation realized " Itni to Gas hi ni apun k pas jitni gaari CNG pe daal li hai".
