Brother,
We did not left any marking, the kind of situation we were in, we were just pushing ourselves to cross it and get over with it. But you will not be having any trail problems now, because local bakarwals must have crossed the pass by now. They leave a huge trail, they even make their animals cross the pass, and take them to Astore. Now if you are going solo, it will be definitely challenging, don't forget to take a light stove with you. You can buy a very light solo stove, which can boil 5-6 liter water, should be enough for you if weather stays calm. Most of the glacier in early part should have been melted by now. But i don't see any weather window in this coming week, go for it in next week. Coming you tools, If locals have broken S shape trail, you wont be needing any ice axe, in those two steep parts, but if trail is gone you can be in trouble, also take 30 meter rope and one ice screw with you. People have died on those steep parts, very few people have crossed this top. I would say, don't take heavy shoes, take light weight shoes with good Vibram sole, if you have anti slip glacier sole that might be great. Ice will be slippery, i doubt you ll find any soft snow on either sides. Best of luck..!!
