Renowned comedian Sikandar Sanam, who was suffering from liver cancer, passed away on Monday. He was 45. He left behind a widow, two daughters and four sons.The theatre artist was diagnosed with the disease three months ago. He was admitted to the Aga Khan University Hospital and later discharged.
He was taken to Mirpurkhas to visit a faith healer on Sunday and brought back to the city next morning. At around 3pm, his condition deteriorated and he was rushed to the Civil Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Sanam?s funeral prayer was offered after Isha prayers at the Siddiqui Masjid in Bohra Pir. Prominent artists and political figures including Omar Sharif, Muhammad Ifraheem, Rauf Lala, Saleem Afridi, Shakeel Siddiqui, Aftab Alam, MPA Tahir Qureshi, MPA Shoaib Ibraheem and Athar Javed Sufi participated in the prayer. Sanam was laid to rest at the Korangi graveyard.

With the death of Sanam, the country has lost a beloved entertainer and a bright star in the comedy circuit.Condemning the growing cases of extortion and kidnapping for ransom in Karachi, Jhagra and Ahsan Iqbal said the PML-N blamed the government for failing to combat crime.
Both men said that if their party came into power, it would uproot all criminals. They added that the PML-N had established a cell to monitor kidnapping and extortion cases in an effort to help the business community. The party leaders also said that they wanted peace in Karachi at any cost and warned the police as well as the bureaucracy that corruption would be exposed.
