Guyz i need a suggestion regarding my trip which is planned on 30 aug.. We are 3 friends and total budget is 60 k .. Want to visit skardu from Rawalpindi..
Please suugest. Should we hire a rent a highroof from rawalpindi or go on local transport?

better to go via local transport say NATCO from Rawalpindi to Skardu, as your budget is very low.... moreover , hire jeep or car from skardu for further itenaries..

Plan is for 5 to 6 days want to explore upper kachura lower kachura shangrila and desoi ..

If you are just going to Skardu then i think you have to subtract 2 days of traveling bcoz it will take almost one day from Rwp to Skardu and same for coming back.
Last October i went there by hiring a GLI car from Rawalpindi to Skardu and the guy was very very good driver, his name is Naveed ( 0321-5509555 ) and he took us to nearby places on his own car without extra charge and he knows all the places very well which u can visit around Skardu.
He has some links to have accommodation as well.
For places which u can go on car around Skardu are: Kharpachoo Fort, upper and lower kachura lake (entry closes at 5pm so go early), Buddha Rock, Sadpara Dam, Shigar fort, Katpana desert and Sarfa Rangah(cold desert) on way to Shigar, Manthoka Waterfall.

it will take almost one day from Rwp to Skardu and same for coming back.

I think that will gonna be very hectic if you cover RWP to Skardu in one day...normally it will take 2 days from RWP to Skardu... and 2 days on the way back..

I agree but look at the number of days he has for the trip. Also he has to talked with Driver and see how much they can travel in one day. since they will be all boys so they can stay anywhere in between on first night.

Thnx for the reply... Bro i can extend my days if needed.. The highroof is charging from abotabad 3000 per day exluding fuel. .. I am confused that should we book a highroof or we should go on local till naran.. Then from there book a car till astore or chillas stay there and then move forward from desoi to skardu via jeep .. And then hire a taxi for upper kachira shangrila etc.. And then back to pindi through natco.. What will be more convinient and cheaper way? And how much fuel.will highroof consume from abotabad to skardu and return back to abotabad..

it will cost you more..

better --- you will go via netco from rawalpindi to skardu or book a car from pindi to skardu ....

one day from pindi - skardu is too hectic btw its almost more than 18 hours continues drive.

Highroof is not good choice going up there , it will ruin your fun part in terms of body ache

USE NATCO to reach & return from there. hire local transport go around you will have good time

• In 60k Budget, Instead of Natco r Booked veh...u should opt By Air, which will b more ecnomical as compared to booked Hi.roof & much more time saving & comfortable as compared to Natco.
• In remaining 20k u can easily spend 03~04 purely for sakardu exploring.

• If u book Hi.roof, its cost for 5~6 days will be 40k+ including Daily rent+Fuel+Driver exp. Costing almost 20~24 Hrs of One side. Which means u ll nead complete 02 days going in & coming back.
  Whereas by Air it will take almost 02xHrs saving almost 40 Hrs.

• In case of Natco, it will also take almost 24 Hrs of one side & due to continues stops & seat conditiond u ll nead a day for getting fresh to explore the area.

• In both synarios Air Line s best keeping mind ur group strength & Budget

Local transport is easily available in skardu? What is the average cost if we hire a private taxi to visit shangrila etc and remainig skardu area any idea?

Airticket will cost us more.. Well going via natco or book a car is a best option i think to explore the surrounding beauties...

if you will be booking day to day trip, it will cost you more overall and more headache. I have bad experience with jeep driver to Deosai, he earlier said it will take to Bara pani and then he asked for more money if we want to go to Sheosar lake.
Instead of taking car from Rwp will be cost you more or less same but with less headache and time saving. rest is upto you.
