@xulfiqar I personally can not tell a working clutch fan from a dead fan clutch. But when danyal bhai was changing the radiator, he bought up this issue that my clutch fan is locked and direct and sent me a video proof of the clutch fan. As a new radiator was being installed i asked danyal bhai to also change the clutch fan as in the whole video i was being told that my clutch fan is locked and is going to make problems.

after seeing the video and the problem in my clutch fan I immediately asked danyal bhai to install a new clutch fan as its a vital part of the cooling system according to me, after saying this and waiting 1 day danyal bhai's response was that we can not find any clutch fan, all clutch fan's are civil in the market, so we will keep using this clutch fan, and untill then i will find an imported clutch fan, i said okay and agreed, after a week i enquired with danyal bhai for the clutch fan update, and his responce was "Not yet bro, New stuff is not opening due to duty issue's and Import is Banned". Have WhatsApp chat but dont want to post due to everyone has his own privacy and a WhatsApp chat should not be disclosed. Will post if asked. Took the car back home, as danyal bhai couldnt arrange a clutch fan, i called the seller(person whom i bought the car) and asked him if he could arrange me a clutch fan, he shipped me one clutch fan from quetta(His home town). After checking the clutch fan danyal bhai also said that the fan is free to move and is in good condition. Moreover to add clutch fan and radiator was replaced 1 month before the major piston work, The car started overheating and shutting down after the after the piston work, Thankyou @Xulfiqar moreover i would like to add that if the clutch fan is the one causing this issue, than the car has went to dmotorsports 4 times after changing the clutch fan, if clutch fan is at fault? should danyal bhai have pointed it out instead of making a claim that my oil pump is the culprit as it has friction marks inside it? and the reason your pajero is overheating is due to a failing oil pump, Also sent me a screenshot from google which claimed that "heating is due to friction of the component due to low supply of oil" (will post screenshot our chat with danyal bhai's claim if asked), this was the main reason we changed oil pump with another total bill of 162,750 which included ac servicing charges. even after changing the oil pump car still overheated and is still overheating.

I doubt clutch fan is at fault here, but if clutch fan here is at fault, why did danyal bhai claimed to change failing oil pump(Did have friction marks as shown by him) will fix our overheating issue, if clutch fan is at fault here shouldnt danyal bhai have fixed the clutch fan here, instead of going on straight with a major job of oil pump costing in lacs. Lets assume clutch fan was not at fault and it was indeed a faulty oil pump which was making the car overheat, shouldnt the issue have been fixed after changing the oil pump? but indeed, it did not

Firstly

A forcibly locked fan clutch is bad, it saps a lot of power, it can break apart the plastic fanblade if revved too high, and will definitely kill your waterpump due to the added load.

Secondly as our member msabbasi explained, you as layman who doesnt understand ownership of these old hulks will automatically assume one part is related to the next. E.g. the oil pump and as he explained that failure of 3 decade old parts is imminent and almost always by surprise.

It has a small part in engine cooling but its failure will damage other bearing parts of the engine rendering it as scrap.

For your overheat issue, there can be more than one culprit, and one of them can be the fan clutch too, just being from quetta and being able to spin is not a metric to measure a fan clutch at all, it needs to be tested in use, there are quite a lot of parameters that affect its working.

E.g. dirt clogged radiator fins or bypassed channels right infront of the fan clutch will render it cold and it will never engage drive to the fan, which can overheat the engine like this.

Your stalling issue is not related to heatup either, (heat siezure is very different and you will have to get to insane temperature (150c on cyl heads) to do that,

just call daanyaal and tow or drive back the truck to his shop and ask him to fix this issue. Or are you waiting for him/his shop to reply here first?

I am indeed waiting for danyal bhai to reply here, as us talking in person or on call, seems no good because once again i atleast need an assurerty that this time the issue will be fixed. The purpose of writing this post is to know where i stand. As you all have known i have just started learning about cars and this experience will be something i should never forget, however being someone new and with 0 knowledge still does not give danyal bhai the right to be like "ye masla agya, ye krdo, issay solution nahi hua ye krlo and extort money on the bases of false claims and promises". Lets suppose i did go to him again without enquiring, i still wont know whats the issue that is not fixable by him, i will tell him that car is stalling he will repair 2-3 things releted to stalling and rpm, Already Done Twice and issue still here, and i will tell him heatup issue, he has already changed everything releted to cooling,(thermostate valve, waterbody, radiator, all caps) issue still exists, im 99% genuinly confirmed if i took the car again i would be diagnosed wrongly again and he would get another chance to take advantage.

New question here arises tho:
From what i've learnt in this post, thanks to @xulfiqar for clearing alot of things out. In summary of spending 6.5 lacs with danyal bhai, 2 Issue's are still coming in the car
1.Stalling Issue
2.Heatup Issue
Both issue's are releted to each other according to danyal, and not releted to each other according to zulfiqar.

To make things more simple, both issues were first noticed after the major piston job by danyal bhai, car was taken back and deliverd to me again but no issue's were fixed, car was taken back again due to me complaining, and was again delivered to me, but no issue's stated above were fixed, car was taken back again by danyal bhai, and was again deliverd to me and no issue's were fixed. Alot of chances(and money) was given in all this process.

Even after this im not blindly accusing him, im giving him a chance of atleast clearing it out how these 2 issue's were not fixable by him, or did he not want to fix these himself as he would lose his milk machine?

Xulfi sb cut the guy some slack I am sure no one in pakistan will measure to your standards, Maybe go through the bills and comment on what work was done and parts changed and after all that being done this guy was expecting too much from the vehicle to go back home without overheating

A sad experience indeed.

Overheating is concerned with failure of the cooling system of vehicle. So as per your statement if radiator, viscous fan clutch, hoses, water pump, and thermostat all were replaced and there are no coolant leakages then this problem should have been resolved. So as told by Xulfiqar, there is something which has been overlooked by the workshop (while staying within these).

Secondly, you have narrated that the engine has overheated more than once. So what about the head gasket? Was it checked and replaced? (I can't locate head gasket among the list of articles in the bills which were replaced by the workshop). If not, then that's a serious issue here.

A lot of engine internals have been replaced, which should give you a sense of security for future. For example, driving with a failing oil pump can result in having to replace the complete engine, so there is nothing to repent here (except for the charges which are too high). I always thought that maintenance of a Pajero is cheaper than Prado but these rates show otherwise.

On a side note, your father is really cooperative so was my late father. He did everything for us, but if I were in your situation when car overheated thrice and I couldn't manage to fix it by even spending 6 hundred k, he would have asked me to open the bonnet and sit on the overheated engine and keep on sitting there till the time it cools down.

As far as i remember i do remember having a conversation about head gasket that our pajero has 3 headgaskets and they are in good condition, no need to replace it. Still danyal bhai will confirm it, and if he says that it was not repaced, then i must say that the engine was taking out of the engine bay for 2 times First when installing piston rings, and second when installing oil pump and servicing all the engine bay and cleaning some rust. I think installing headgasket will be the easiest part compared to above works.

I have not been repenting on any rupee spent, as no matter the cost danyal bhai did replace some of the parts, the issue lies here with fake claims and promises. I would have payed for the oil pump either ways even if he had fixed the heating and stalling issue as i wanted to bring the vehical to factory spec.

@Xulfiqar @UAHMAD another interesting take that i have noticed is that even after car overheating, and waiting for it too cool down, the radiator will still be filled too the top, and even now if i go and open the hood to add water or coolant, the coolant level will be filled too the top, and i would hardly be able to add even 1 pint of coolant more, both Radiator and the resorvoir, If we had a head gasket failure, i think the coolant level should come down by every drive, Im Not Sure. Kindly spread light here.

This is a small confirmation that your cooling system is intact, what you need to do now is to confirm two parameters.

1 - the temperature gauge is not lying to you, it can and does happen specially on mitsubishi. Use an obd scanner to confirm the temperature. Also check system with a pressure tester to check its integrity.

2 - the idle control motor on mitsubishi are prone to failure and mitsubishi have updated the part 3 times since the early 2000s Buying a used one from quetta is not yardstick or measurement. Mitsubishi ecu also fail in the idle control section, there is a thread on pw where the member actually made the system 10x better than mitsubishi. Check in scanner for the idle stepper motor position to confirm.

Other than the above if your engine has the assinine karman vortex mitsubishi MAF sensor, it can also be a culprit in this. They are usually dead every 10 years and dont throw a check light for it. All you get is a clumsy engine which dies at idle.

That MAF also requires the original airbox and “air guide” before the sensor to be installed, otherwise it doesnt work properly e.g. if you install a cone filter.

As I mentioned, owning a 30 year old hulk of parts is not for the novice or green hands, parts WILL fail and novice person wont be able to understand why.

Looks like you dont want to believe or trust him to repair, then whats the point of posting this thread here.

And dont take my diagnostic recommendation as gospel, its not because I cannot see or touch your vehicle, proper diagnosis can only be done when I can physically work your vehicle.

There maybe quite a few issues, like worn out water pump, air lock in system, clogged coolant manifold, bad fan clutch, bad radiator cap etc etc.

@xulfiqar Thankyou for your reply once again, I will get started on both of the things, I will try to monitor the temperature using a scanner and confirm if the temperature gauge isnt lying. I guess the status of the stepper motor will also be confirmed than.

Other than that, I have researched a bit on pajero forumns and the car indeed does have a Assinine karman vortex MAF sensor.

Sir, i do want to believe him and want to trust him to repair, and when the issue first arose, i have trusted 3 times already more to fix my car, i wrote this post after the issue still couldnt be fixed after 3 try's, This is when i first thought maybe im getting ripped off by constant visits and everytime a new problem is diagnosed without fixing the orignal problem, the point of posting this thread is that the work i did before was not transparent at all, and im all ears if danyal bhai comes forward to atleast clear this whole scenario out. Im sure if i did not post this and went to danyal bhai when he was calling me 3 days ago to his workshop, Im 100% sure i would have paid another bill of 1 lac and issue would still have persisted.

Brother if you are stupid then go to your Daniyal bhai. When you faced an issue once, you shouldnt have gone to him again.
I would not bullshit you and waste your time.
Take a cab, go to Westridge side, as u cross Rafay mall and ijp road flyover while going towards motorway, there are a couple of mercedese and suvs shops. You will see many shops there full of suvs parked outside it. Get one thing fixed. Drive your car check, then recheck then pay.

Option 2. Call Madadgar services, they will tow ypur car to Peshawar Shoba market. Get it fixed over there. Try to bargain, fix it.
If it needs a new engine, swap it. If you are having too many issues, tell them to swap it with a 1KD. You will be needing a gear box and engine too.

Option 3. Open carskilla.com. Search Pajero. Go to quetta buy an Ncp pajero of 11 lacs, swap it. Or you might get a good condition engine and parts over there.

Stop going to dmotorsports. Fix your car in peshawar!

and remember, always try to check and survey the market abt prices of anything you buy in future just to get an idea and then purchase stuff. Dont just splurge money like this. Learn how to negotiate. There first demand is not the final say. Secondly, dont fall for internets mummy daddy remarks. Always ground check everything and then go to a particular place.

One thing more, A labour or a worker is a worker, not your friend.

I dont quite understand this thread,

You posted that a certain shop didnt fix your truck after charging money, but refuse to take vehicle to that shop..

So whats your end game?

You want your money back?
You want your truck to be put back to “pre repair condition?
You want it fixed by that shop?
You want some other shop to fix it?

All of the above start with consulting the original mechanic. Which you are refusing and just posting here as complaints which wont get resolved.

And as you claim yourself you are at ground point zero of “car talk” - i would suggest to cut your losses and get rid of this 30 year old truck.

Buy a new vehicle like a hilux or dmax with 4wd and enjoy your life. Owning old vehicles is not for newbies, the enthusiasts owning these in good condition have very well equipped garages themselves. Anyone else claiming otherwise is being very economical with the truth.

On a personal note, i do get “excited” youngsters coming to my shop with an old volvo 240 because they saw some video that it was “cool” - what they fail to understand is that it was built to a standard that is 45 years old. And being 45 years old is going to have a lot of visits to a workshop as it gets used.

Like clockwork they sell it after the third “repair visit” because they say that their new model car (any car) doesnt have all these requirements. And that the volvo is slow!!

The kids who were rich had them restored to factory like spec, but were disappointed as it still was an old volvo after all that money spent. After a few insta and facebook snaps, like and karma collecting they sell it as a loss with shattered expectations.

Sir all the things you have said is 100% agreed, this thread will not be able to move forward unless danyal bhai comes and clears out things. I need simple answers of after 3 visits the issue still presists, is the issue not fixable by him, is the issue fixable by him, if it is fixable by him, is he going to make a new estimate? I have already paid premium for the issue which still exists in my car, and really if the thread is closed here. Than i guess i expect nothing more from danyal bhai, and this thread will clearly be my experience with him.
