SOLVED: Is Suzuki Alto a Good Car?

yar actually I truly agree with teen daba thing about Suzuki,
But may be I am wrong but the info about vitz I heard is as follows
For Vitz :

1 - Vitz Spare parts are rare and expensive (suzuki any car : spare parts cheap like dust)

2 - Heavy Resale , I don't see vitz in resale competition u know, its sort of a Luxury class sporty car ?

3 - Fuel Econmy I have no info about it but I have a wid guess suzukis are better in this feild, I drove mehran for 15 years.

Correct my knowledge if i am wrong.

no alto is not efi....but still it is more economical than mehran on cng...

yes alto is more comfortable n roomy than mehran..

no its ac is much better than mehran but not the best...

in my opinion u should go fr vitz 03 04.... forget these tin dabas frm pak suzuki

Really ? that worries me
but I just had a test drive last week on Suzuki Exchange Display Center in Makro store I didnt felt that bad infact it was quite good it sort of attraced me

Alto is probably the worst car when it comes to grip, braking and handling at anything over 80kmph.

However it is sturdy, the AC is good initially, and the parts are dirt cheap.

If I were you looking for a new car, I'd have bought the new Cultus. If being new wasn't a strict condition, I'd have gone for a 2000-2002 Vitz or City.

By the way what do u mean by worst?? Do you compare it with Hondas or any other Sedans?? Do you actually owned an alto before giving these comments or its just ...........r.

Unfortunately yes. Bought one brand new in 2007, still have it parked back in Pakistan at home, my youngest brother probably uses it for local commutation.

As for comparison - compared to other locally available mini hatches. All of them offer better braking, and most of them have better grip and handling than Alto.

EFI say gari ko wesay faida kiya hota hai I have no idea but I kn0ow people like it

1.Alto is not EFI.It uses the old carburator technology.

2.Cabin room is more than Mehran.You feel a bit more comfortable while driving Alto as compared to Mehran.

3.Alto's AC is the best in its class.Previous Altos I think before 2006 or 07 have DENSO AC which is the best AC.The newer Altos come with Sanden AC but it is also very chilling.

If I were you,I would choose Cultus due to bigger cabin space,EFI and a good drive.

I own an Alto and it didn't give me any problem.It all depends on your driving style and whether you maintain it or not.
Alto is not at all a bad car,but still Cultus is better than Alto.

Yr both cars are good.
Alto ac is best in 1000cc class.
Drive is very comfortable as compared to mehran.
one plus point is excellent economy on CNG.
And you car use ac on standing car without being worry of overheating.

Guys Why I am not interested in buying any imported mini hatch back is because they have no resale or not better then local manufactured car, secondly expesive spare part back up and third the fuel economy ,,,

I do admit other car (imported specailly) have sir bags ABS braking and god know lots of techs in it... but I mentioned the problem above is one important thing ... think like an average Pakistani yar.. (H)

I agree I spent past on mehran which used to some back home lahore from thandyani in just 1800rs gas (H)(H) so I dont want a heart attack after buying any car which is a fuel drinker but yes I am in mood to upgrae to better vehcle with affordable feul econmy..

secondly I am a young boy, and a small car suites my personalty (H)

Guys poster is not interested in gas guzzlers like vitz and civic he wants a economical car such as ALTO!

I owned an Alto and it was a worst experience. The car gave lots of trouble after 4-5 years of purchase. Overheating problem, consuming all the water daily, engine noises and what not. Part of the problem was the fact that the local mechanics really ruined it. However it was nightmare to own that car. If you buy an Alto, get ready for constant visit to the mechanics on a periodic basis once the car gets a bit old.

Yes Vitz 2001-2004 parts are pricy but they are worth the price, What u get in Alto lets say 5000 you will get in vitz for 8000 but it will last longer. When you buy new alto it will fell like quiet a comfortable ride but after some time the car will show you its true form(TIN DABBA ON 4 Wheels) so I suggest you buy Vitz and by the way it has good resale and its Fuel economy is also very good like 14km/L+

That is the truth man. It's not just me, same thing happened with 2 of my relatives. Same issues of water leakage and car overheating again and again.

By JDM Alto he meant Japanese made imported Alto (not the one being assembled by Pak Suzuki)

2- it was an old issue...now vitz have great resale.......

3-no bro vitz mileage is great n better than suzukis on petrol.. not on cng...but there is no need to put vitz on cng ...

alto is non efi and neither it has point and condenser its equipped with CDI.... and yea its very economical and ac is very good ... better then cultus .... i know most of the guys wont agree with me but i am telling you on the basis of personal exp.... i have 2 altos at the moment kept a coure and cultus too did not like them both ... bought alto in 2004 brand new and used it 160,000 Km till date in all those years and mileage just changed tyres once and tuning 5 or 6 times that it

guys alto is good as per as initial pick(not that good) but
brakes are rubbish
mileage is not that good
handling is poor
and above all u have to maintain it under suzuki dealers......local mechanics kabara nikal dey *** us ka.....

an EFI Engine has better Fuel Economy than non EFI Engine

a 1000CC Suzuki Alto has crap average on Petrol
a 1300CC Honda City gives much much higher petrol average
a 1300CC Corolla gives higher average than Alto even on Petrol

PS: Cultus also sucks on fuel average even thoughts its EFI
the charm of Cultus and Alto lies in their Mileage on CNG which is good

No, brother it never gave me a single problem.
Yesterday, I got the clutch plates replaced that too was my own mistake.
I was washing the engine bay and water ran into the gearbox.

So,if you are a YES man and do not demand too much from a car and don't drive it very fast, then Alto is no doubt a good car for you.

I was advising you Cultus over Alto due to bigger cabin space.
If you don't drive too much with family, then Alto is suitable for you.

My last advice is stick to the OEM tyre and Rims size.
The biggest mistake people do is that they install 13inch rims in Alto and then they start complaining about suspension.

By the way, Alto's stock rim size is 12.

Now let me share some realities about Alto, the current alto available in Pakistan is a combination of "body" of 5th generation (HA12) 660cc Alto delivered in Global market and "Engine" of Suzuki Potohar Jeep. I would call this combination a Jugaar by Pak-Suzuki..... Major disadvantages of this combination is (mentioned by other posters as well)

• Bad road grip.
• No body balance at high speeds.
• Bad fuel economy as engine is designed for a jeep.
• Pathetic braking.

However it has advantages of:

• Can be used for towing broken down vehicles.
• More powerful in steep hills.
