I am planning to buy a 40 " LCD and have a tie between Sony v series and Samsung series 4. Please suggest in terms of specifications. Also tell me whats the differance between native and panel contrast?

Well I did use the search function and had gone through what u r suggesting but I did not find anything conclusive. Thats why I have started my own thread. I am concerned about lower contrast values in Sony but at the same time its full HD. Any comments on this aspect?Check this comparison :

The samsung ones look too good
Samsung is better in selling LCD's whereas Sony is better off in selling Plasma's
there is no HD transmission in Pak and I dont see it coming in couple of years. So is true HD required or HD ready will do?

When Sony Launched the Bravia Series, it was Samsung who was making LCDs for Sony,...
In LCDs, non can match the Quality of SamSung...

Go for philips dude cheaper and good performance.
LG and Samsung are the makers of LCD screens which are then used by other companies with their own features. I would recommend sony, samsung and lg lcd tvs. Personally i have been using the lg scarlet 32" and quite like it. Good contrast ratio and added benefit of usb port as i download lots of movies and this makes it easy to watch them on lcd tv. Do check it out in 42".
im using Samsung Series4 40" since 7months now, its been a superb experience especially with the Philips DVD which upscales vids to 1080p connected via HDMI cable, used sony but sold it, it wasnt that impressive, samsung all the way
buy samsung & preferably series 5, just excellent. sony sells its name in Pakistan, nothing else!
