Spark plug life

WHAT IS THE AVERAGE SPRK PLUG LIFE IN HYUNDAI SANTRO ENGINE & ALSO WHEN TO GO FOR TUNNING AND TAPPET ADJUSMENTS (AFTER HOW MUCH KMS)
NEED EXPERTS EXPERIENCE & ASSISTANCE.

if you use the normal ordinary plugs such as NGK single point which cost 70rs per plug!they should last you around 3000-5000km!usually stock cars mein NGK kay plugs hee dalayway attay hein!

i use normal 300 rs denso plugs in my 13 yeras old 200k + milleage driven, i replace them at 10,000 km , still at that time they were perfect, but i replace them at this limit,
if ur car is brand new and under 100k millegae, replace them at max 12-15k millegae ......

I am not a EXPERT, following are the rules I just follow.

If your car is brand new... an avg. life of Denso spark plug is about 15,000km. Bosch spark plugs can last over 20,000km.

Tuning: If you are running on CNG... get it done around every 7 to 8 thousand kms. BUT REMEMBER TO CLEAN THE AIR FILTER EVERY ONE THOUSAND KMS. If running on petrol only get it done every 10 thousand.

Tappet: I think one should get checked those every 15 thousand kms.

u r right abt spark plugs, and yes clean the air filter is gud habbit, i used to clean it after every 500 km and replace it after 5000 km .... approx after 2 oil changes,

regarding tappets ...... i dont agree with u , i think once they are ajducted, they wont need to open again and again ....... cos they wont get loose or tight by themselves with the running,
i get my margalla's tappets adjusted once abt 2 years back and till now abt 100k + i haven't let any mechanic touch them, and they are running perfect yet,
my car giving me very gud milleage in city and highways .

About the tappets, well that was just my personal experience ... for example a Japanese made car (Subaru), after adjustment of tappets it ran about 45-50 thousands kms when I felt that it needed some adjustment.

Now a local made car... for example a Mehran... I think it need CHECKING after every 15-20 thousands km. and one should not be surprised if it needed some adjustment.

I have no idea about Santro... but guess NOWDAYS, all local made cars are almost the same.

And lastly, I think one can easily feel and even hear, when the tappet adjustment is required.

may be Tm bahi app sahi keh rahay hooon , thanks for ur reply ...... waisay hearing say zaida i think ur car's pick up + milleage tells u need adjustment of tappet ,,,,, isn't it ? if there is gud pick + milleage is coming, then y need tappet adjustments after 15 or 20 k of running .......? just my openion .......

well i am having 2001 Santro with CNG and i am running it on both petrol & gas. I am using the Hyundai plugs from Hyundai shop & i have so far covered 4200kms on these plugs. i will replace these at 4500 kms inshallah.

i recently changed my honda accord 1988 A16A1 bosch 4-head spark plugs at 10,000km. they were fine. if u clean ur air filter and remove spark plugs and clean them frequently, they will last longer

b/c wheter u believe it or not but it is true,
in one of my car ,i changed spark plug after 9 yeras in my coroolla
in my 98 model corolla from day1 (feb 1998)i was using original plugs, i never changed it ,only a time of tuning, only rub it with regmal(sandbath)
but 1 month ago (aug 2007) in morning my car was not starting at all, actually no current was not coming. b4 i had not experience problem anyonetime
when i called electrician, he checked & told nothing except spark plugs,he just changed spark plugs & now car becomes fine( so u can think , uptill that day in aug 2007 i have driven 117857

so wheter u blieve it or not? but it happened wid me

still working fine & best corolla

hi Guys, Though old thread but as per my need

On my cultus manual its written to replace "Spark plugs and distributor breaker point" after every 10,000KM , my car has done approximately 30,000 KM, i am not having any problem. Car starts on first ignition. Do i really need to replace them ? if yes, why?

BOSCH super4 spark plugs recommended life is 30000 km.you shold not change them after 10000 km

super4 lasts about 40k but platinums r much better option,though they shd b cleaned with every tuning which is after 10k km
