Spark plugs and Brake Pads honda city

Hello Pakwheelers. Hope all of youse are good.
I am in need to change spark plugs and Brake pads for my honda city 2016. It just touched 100k KM. Honda advised me to change plugs on 80k but It looked early to me and as per forums too. Now I took estimate from Honda and they made an estimate of almost 35k for these two parts including labour and tax etc which seems ludicrous.
Can some one please suggest any shop where I can buy genuine Iridium tip plugs for my city and which after market brake pads will be as good as factory ones. Btw I am noo good judge of parts anywhere where I can buy without the tension of parts being of low quality. I can spare 35k but it just seems too much to me and honda is overcharging for sure.

your brake pads lasted you 100k km ? just look at their labour charges a good optin is to buy from them and get them changed else where would save you some money but then again even oem parts availble in maret are cheaper as compared to dealership

I was in the same boat - Honda Prices are too ridiculous.

I bought aftermarket pads - Akebono AN376WK
Parts Central Price is around 6K and they are ceramic, braking is just as good if not better, noiseless and ABS kicks in perfectly.

For the plugs, i bought them from Nomi01 Pakwheels user, he has a sales thread somewhere il try to find it. They were 7200 For all four, this was six months ago and prices may vary.

I still think Honda Genuine plugs can go beyond 100K as the mfg recommends 100K Miles which is 160K

Just clean them using a buffer (dont use wire brush) and emery paper 800-1000grit.

Don't change spark plugs yet. Change them at 160k. You need to change them at 100k for turbocharged vehicles only.

For Akebono Pads - Rehmat Autos 0321-4466229 this is where i bought mine from and you can get them for 4500 if you can reference me Mohsin from Bahria town. He will deliver with careem rider for an additional 200rs within an hour.

can anyone please tell me how many kms do oem pads last? can they last 80 k km if driven with care and what about rear brake shoe for drum brakes

It depends on how much you use the brakes and how hard you're braking. With normal use, most people can expect to get 50-60k out of them, but it is possible to last 80k, especially if you're mostly driving on highways where you don't have to brake much. That's why it's recommended to inspect brake pads every 5-10k kms, after 40k, and replace when necessary.

For brake pads use Akebono japan brake pads or nissin ones but try to find original ones in nissin, heard that there are alot of copies of it available aswell. Front nissin pads are usually around 5k.

No. They lasted 80k. After 80k I changed after market but I was not satisfied but had to use them for a while. As my car is mostly used in cantt and dha area and doesn’t go beyond 80km (occasionally 100+). So I thought to use them atleast 20k now and than change to some good ones or oem.

Recently I had oil changed from Honda. I never bothered about bills but damn it was 7980pkr this time. Before It never touched 5k. I was like OMG. I am never returning to Honda for Oil change.
Just for same old 3 mains. Oil. Filter n air filter.

My drive is normal. Doesn’t go beyond 100km/hr. Do you reckon still i change plugs at 150k atleast?
I am getting mileage of 11.5km in city and was getting 15-16km on long tours.
Can It get better with plugs changed or its the best city can offer me?
Car was properly tuned by honda @80k kms

I am convinced that these car companies cater to people only with unlimited money or having a cash printing machine in their houses, For the salaried class or even small business owners like me struggle to justify this, even though paying any amount for required work is not an issue (Alhamdulillah!) but it is really hard to justify these ever increasing prices i mean 3K for a air filter, has to be a Carbon Nano Particle HEPA filter that doesn’t even allow bacteria to enter the throttle body air intake, I think the next one will be 5K for coronavirus particles /s

If you drive on ring road or motorway, I would suggest doing an italian tuneup, 4000-6000RPM runs for 30-60s will clear up a lot of build up in the exhaust system, and its totally free. It is repeatable and can be done multiple times until satisfied.

Another one of my go to mileage fix would be to Put a bottle of STP Fuel System Cleaner All In One, this stuff is magical, cleans up combustion chamber, fuel system, injectors etc.

I would much rather try these easy fixes than to throw money on a non-issue blindly.

Never did reving to clean up carbon. Will try it.
Hope i ll benefit from it.
In mean time will get plugs serviced. If the mechanic says these are done, than will change. If the plugs are done mechanic will tell me himself that these need to be changed.

Yes, the plugs most modern cars come with are good for 150-160k. As for the mileage issue, you could have the fuel filter replaced, since the manual states to replace it at 80k kms. Alternatively, you could try a complete fuel system cleaner by companies like stp, liquimoly, amsoil (their p.i bottle), etc. They can also clear up the fuel filter, and other parts to improve fuel economy..
