Have a look at the interior of the mosque... Beautiful! considering that this is only one of the many mosques in Turkey built during the Ottomon Era. It has only one minaret so it was not even built on the orders of a Prince or Princess. So probably it was some local goveroner who ordered the building of this mosque. The mosque built by the orders of Sultan has 4 Minarets. The exception is Sultanahmet mosque having 6 minarets.

The turks mainatain all the mosques very well. I have seen the same pattern of interior in Turkish mosques in Germany.

This is only a glimpse of Konya. There is so much history and culture dispersed all around Turkey that its simply impossible to have an insight to all of that. I will be visiting Inshallah the Sultanahmet square on the European side of Istanbul this weekend. This place in its vicinity has some of the most famous monuments of Turkey. Konya is famouse for Maulana Rumi like Lahore is for Data Gunj Baksh.

Its good to see your birth place:) and believe me its worth seeing; board a flight to Turkey:D

Its amazing that they whirled like this for almost 45 minutes... It looks humanly impossible to me....
