SRS Airbag light popping up in Altis 2007

this afternoon, after ignition the Airbag warning light wont go off, didn't had any collision or accident recently, gently tapped the steering wheel and it went of, what could be the reason, the clock spring cable gave away or just carbonized connector.

if problem with clock spring, i wonder can i replace the complete steering assembly, i have seen quite a few in bilal gunj with steering controls, ignition steering column etc. costing meerly 3k
what are points to check while getting a new one,

and which will be the most cost beneficial way to sort this thing out, at the moment, there is no airbag light, but u know, once it has been shown up, it can come up again.

Don’t go for cost beneficial . Go for most safety system .sometimes it is just airbag that saves you in accidents . Get it checked by Toyota authorised workshop instead of some local shop . Just sound advice

thanks for valuable advice, there is no warning light, but this is sort of preventive maintenance.
i little bit more towards electronics oriented solutions, as per my understanding, there could be some issue with Clock spring..the air bag unit , SRS control module and front collision sensors seem intact.

problem resolved, the plug on cluster had some carbon, cleaned it with contact cleaner and no more airbag warning indication.
