Gandhara is already assembling Nissan Deisel trucks. And still owns the car assembly plant which was leased or rented out to NEXUS automobilies (CHEVROLET JOY) to be assembled their.

Its just that the company is making its cut from the trucks that they didnt intend to make cars. A controversy says the last assembled or imported Nissans cars were also to forge documents. Probably some tax benefits.

The goverment is again offering tax benefits seperate to new entrats and seperate for dead plants to be made reuseable.

Lets see how does it unfolds.

Tivoli wins only when priced crazy... nothing seems to be working for it after BR-V news.

They are delaying it because they want to see the price of brv, Honda atlas being big local player can play with price to kill the competition. But I am expecting Brv and Tivoli prices to overlap, Tivoli seems better equipped and more rigid/stronger than brv. Tivoli is more like Crossover/mini suv while Brv is MPV.

Tivoli is a very good looking crossover but I don't have high hopes from dewan. First thing they'll need is both aggressive marketing and pricing efforts. People will already get the wrong idea from the name "Ssangyong". They should market it as "Koreas third largest automobile manufacturer". Something like that. They've already delayed it too much.

Wonder why car companies are interested in selling SUVs here when it's probably easier to sell econo cars. I guess profit margins on selling a single SUV are probably equal to 5 econocars. We need more normal cars and not 4x4 or crossovers.

The thing is market for small cars isn't growing as fast as the market for 1300cc+ cars. You can check from pama figures. I guess people buying a small car also don't afford to change the car that often.

Your analysis seems correct. People with less disposable income would not risk buying a new entrant in the car market but prefer buying a tried and tested product. Hopefully Ciaz will provide a fresh option in the small sedan market. Tivoli can go ahead and try to break the large sedan/SUV market. Good luck to it.

Ssangyong just released the XAVL concept at the Geneva motor show. The concept is based on Korando, but it looks more like a tivoli.

Negative... This looks like an SUV while the Tivoli looks like a pumped up MINI Cooper. I will consider buying this (subject to affordability) but not the Tivoli. Just as I think WagonR is ugly while Cultus, even though obsolete, looked like a car.

You are among the minority who dislike Tivoli's shape. In my opinion, its shape (especially from the front) is not bad at all and much much better than other options in this price range and almost all the ugly looking imported cars which Pakistanis are fond of.

Anyone here has any idea about the future of this car in Pakistan? Saw one today in blue colour with exposed emblems and logos, probably not a good thing.
A quick search on sindh vehicle database shows it is one of those early models imported for testing purposes.

drove a ssangyong rexton 2006 turbo diesel SUV

its a merc M class underneath with the same power plant

v comfortable, strong, quiet. it has semi automatic trax, heated seats, cruise control and stability control

ssangyong makes very good cars,,,
