Stablizer Catch Fire

Last Night when my Ac was running my stablizer suddenly catch fire and stopped working. I saw on my balcony my Ac wire cuts down to floor. I dont know now either my stablizer has died or its just about wire. I have Reena 12000w Stablizer and i was running 1.5 ton Mitsubishi A.c

Happened the same to mine I am running a 2 ton AC. Problem is the wire between your AC and stabiliser and stabiliser to main power switch. This happens when your stabiliser wants more current inorder to provide the required amount of volts for your AC to run. Now if it gets more current then the wire can bear then the wire will get hot and its plastic coating will burn overtime causing it to finally short circuit and catch fire. I suggest you calculate max current required for your stabiliser and put up wires accordingly as every wire has a max current rating.

If there is no circuit breaker installed in your stabelizer or at input/output of stabelizer then get it installed. But do install it according to the wire you have. Installing a random circuit breaker will most probably won't help you at all.

I suppose function of a stabilizer is to provide the stabilized voltages to the generator. The induction motors running in AC draws more current at low supply voltages. Stabilizer has auto transformer to step up the voltage when the supply voltage are not enough. Similarly it down steps the voltages in case of more than standard supply voltages. All wires have maximum safe operating current. Exceeding that limit would overheat the wire, therefore damage the plastic insulation and create short circuit. If the AC wire itself was not short circuited at some other point, the stabilizer might have to be blamed.
