Steam from exhaust pipe upon startup after engine overhaul in Mehran

Hello,

I have had a complete overhaul of Mehran 94 engine....got new rings, piston, main-brigain got fixed, valve seals and head etc every part was replaced -- I got it repaired on 7th September and have traveled around 400kms so far. The mechanic has kept the tappet cover's bolts loose and told me to visit him again on 7th oct so he could tighten those bolts. There are no other problems and I have been following all the instructions i.e. not to go beyond 40-50 kph and always run it on petrol, never put a foot on the accelerator when the car is cold.

The problem is it seems that upon every startup (not just in the morning), the car is blowing very small amount of steam from the tailpipe (not cloudy white smoke which is a bad sign) which lasts for hardly 3-4 secs and then the steam stops. What could be the reason behind this? Is this normal? Does this happen with all of your cars as well because honestly I haven't paid much attention to the tailpipe's smoke until my car's engine had issues....

White exhaust smoke from your car, depending on when you see it, can be extremely serious or it can mean almost nothing. If you only see it when you first start the car in the early morning when the temperature is low, you have nothing to worry about. However, if you see it all the time, you can have a simple problem, or a very serious problem. If the smoke dissipates shortly after leaving the tailpipe, this means it's actually steam and signifies a blown head gasket. This is bad. If the cloud isn't too bad and doesn't dissipate, then you could be burning oil. Depending where the leak is, this can be very bad or not terribly bad. No matter what, you should have it looked at

The morning puff is steam, the regular driving and startup is smoke which is mostly caused by residual oil deposited in the exhaust by the weak engine.

Now that your engine is new and you are breaking it in, make sure it runs at correct operating temperature, which at minimum should be 85-90*C which on your temperature gauge should be half sweep. This is ensured by the thermostat valve. Use it - I can bet you a brand new mehran your engine wont have it.

Running it below temperature is a sure way to ensure your "NEW" engine's life would be less than 20,000 kms. The heat cleans out the oil and expands the engine to correct tolerances and also ensures maximum efficiency as the engine is a heat pump after all.

my mechanic use a term engine bnao tu silencer se pani tip tip girna chahiye and this is true about your car....try to start your car on petrol and will make your car engine life double up till its enough warm to drive

agar app gari ka puch rahay hain to pani petrol/gas kay jalnay say paida hota hai. koi pereshani ke bat nahi hai. Dhooan jo gum na ho bad engine say ata hai. kala dhuan bad carborator say ata hai.
