Steel wheels or Alloy rims

Hey guys I just read a blog in pakwheels blog that Alloy Rims are lighter in weight that the steel ones and enhances acceleration !!!
So does that means that it can give better mileage ???
Bcz here in these forums I noticed ppl saying that alloy rims have -ve effect on mileage!

I'm little confuse here

To my little knowledge the alloy rims only effect the mileage when you put bigger alloys than the oem steel ones
For example the OEM size is 14" and you put 15" alloys

If you get exactly the same size alloys and tires as of OEM ten it will not effect the mileage

^same answer as above,It only affects mileage/acceleration,if u increase rim/tyre size,i have used both steel and alloy rims,I didn't feel any difference at all.

if the bigger alloy rim and tyre weight is same or less then it should not effect mileage...

Big or small won't effect mileage, but heavy and light weight will. People here put cheap Chinese Alloys in their cars and then complaint about mileage (I myself is using cheap Chinese alloys). Get Branded alloys which are light weight and it won't have negative impact on mileage and If you are going above OEM size then choose wisely and do proper calculations before you get new wheels.

And where do we get branded alloys from?
I mean how can I judge the branded ones? do they come in any particular packing or have a name?
