Aoa Dear PWeelers,
Just wanted to ask people using steelmate on this forum.

I installed steelmate 838M(New) one way security system 5 days back in my corolla gli 2012.the main reason of installation was the auto lock after 15 secs with brake pedal being pressed.

Now,i am facing this issue that first i got it installed,and it sometimes locked and sometimes just indication sound came but doors didnt lock and sometimes all would seem ok.

anyways,the dealer today changed the ECU and the transmitters and the same pattern happened.

1.should i get the wiring re-checked ??
2.what is the normal mechanism of door locking with brake pedal (old steelmate users please reply).

waiting for reply,else i wanna sell it for 3000 Rs lolz.i have the receipt with 5 day old purchase as well :).

Seems to be a problem with the ECU or the sensor ... i would suggest get it checked again .... rather than selling it get it replaced under warranty if possible

thanks for the reply.

i got the ecu and the transmitters changed under warranty.he opened a new box in front of me,and took out the ECU and the trasmitters and installed them in front of me.

thats is why i am a bit shaky about wiring now.

also,someone plz tell me how it works.
like whenever you sit in and start the car,does it always lock 15 sec later.
and midway,if you unlock the car,open the door,and the close it,will it again always lock after 15 secs?

Just take your car back to that person, ask him to check all the wiring he did. Problem seems to be with wiring / connections.

someone please tell me the locking mechanism which i asked two times.
how it really works.does it lock everytime after 15 secs whenever the door is opened.

There is a provision in security module if you unlock the car and does not open the door it automatically locks after 15 seconds, The connection of door light and security module is missing in your car. Get it connected and your issue will be resolved.

No no. Its auto locks if the system is disarmed and then door is not opened.

I am talking about during drive door locking after 15 seconds when u press the brake pedal.

can be a problem in the motors.. maybe they get stuck?

I am using steel mate and the car door locks when i apply the brakes, and it locks everytime when the doors are opened

i am using same model as urs. and got this system installed last week. well the door shall be locked on very first time. now suppose u want to get out of ur car. u ll unlock the door go out came back in again and accelerate the car as soon as u press brake the doors shall lock again.

Wiring problem with door lock wiring area. seems like when u unlock, light turns on but ecu is not told that car is unlocked, thats why it is behaving this way.

It is a usual process when ever you put break after unlocking it the first time the locks will close and when they close open them and they will not close again until you open the door and then close it without unlocking it will unlock it self it is the main mechanism of it !

bro the problem is in motor lock joint setting, a metal piece joins motor rod to door lock rod

I got the wiring re checked by some other electrician. There were 3 installation blunders. Its all ok now mashAllah.

No body should go to the shop named RACERS on main boulevard dha near defence chowk opp qazi plaza. He is stupid. I visited him 7 times.

I told u that problem is with wiring done by some stupid.

Similar thing happened to me, actually these security system are bit tricky that a normal chotoo cannot install.

well thats a big issue i think u should get the wiring re checked and for such purpose u will need an electrician or someone who is professional so please visit them and u will be surely helped out

I am also having really not good experience with SteelMate.. I purchased a car and it has pre installed steelmate. its wiring were not right as after unlocking and opening the driver side door it still relock and armed the system so if im sitting waiing in car or even i am working around car it was buzzing.

Anyway I got that fixed. Now the problem is this that if by any chance CAT , Dog, or Kids playing in case if the impact or high sound make the Alarm go buzz it keep buzzing when I Disarm or press Lock button it stops just for few seconds and than again start buzzing.. Electrician is that you will need to put key in ignation turn ignation on and then switch off and then it will be disarmed.

Is this crazy.. what if Im in any shopping mall or very far from car... that means it will be buzzing all day!
Either he is trying to make me fool
