Steering Wrap & Dash Cover of 1st Gen. Premio

I bought 1st generation Premio earlier this year and its steering center was broken. People say air bag was deployed. But it was not. The ex-owner aggressively used his right hand thumb for honking and he used to honk a lot which caused this damage.

And if you drive premio in the direction of the sun, then the glare of dash board is seen in the front wind shield which compromised the visibility while driving. So I decided to made the matt for its whole dash and also repair the broken plastic of steering.

Surprisingly its dash board right above the meter has weird bump. And I asked person to pay attention here at most because I want exactly same setting (Banavat) of dash cover.

i took some pictures before & after and will post them one by one.

Actually its ready made dash covers/matts are available in the market in the price of 2-2.5K.
i tried few of them but none of them sits perfectly here. So i decided to arrange it customize.

There are two sensors in the front and also one circular ac vent on the each side and one big vent just at the edge of the dash where it touches the wind sheild

This dash matt is actually double material.

Upper side is Carpet fabric.
Beneath is non-woven soft material with one side heat proof. They call it Panni wali sheet.

That Panni wali sheet was glued beneath this carpet and I believe it will help improving the ac cooling during the daytime.

Here is the details of expense.

5K for plastic repair cost of steering. Since its attached with air bag so extra precautions needs to take while working on it. The monogram of Toyota needs to be removed and fix again. The bends and writings/embossing, etc. was not easy work.

5K for steering wrap. This cost depends on material you choose. But I got special discount for it.

7K for Dash Matt. Since I made it double (Panni wali sheet attached beneath carpet), hence it cost more. Because after attaching that sheet you have to overlock both of these sheets together.

If I have not chosen the Panni Wali Sheet, then its cost was somewhere 3.5-4K only.

Well all these prices includes the labour too.

i had arranged a spare steering wheel for my premio since these repair works needs some time, and meanwhile i need to drive my car too. So a friend helped me to arrange the multi-media steering of premio

The electric grips of this multimedia steering doesn’t match with mine’s existing steering wheel. Electrician said he can fix it after some cutting wires and making new connections.
But I decided to keep the things original.

So when I changed this steering then air bag light pops up in dash which is OK.

But after shifting back to old steering, the light turns off automatically.
