So i how come my Frnd is driving a car in London with the same International Driving License.

hunnyahmed, just because your friend is driving in the UK does not make a piece of paper issued by an automobile association a legal document conferring driving privileges in UK.

Has he ever been pulled over by Police and presented this document as a privilege to drive in UK?

Let me shed some light on the intended use of International Driving Permit. It is not a driving license. You must have a valid driving license before you can get an IDP. IDP is issued under an ancient treaty signed in 1949 in Geneva to promote tourism and accommodate drivers holding valid licenses in their own countries, allowing them to operate motor vehicles on temporary basis.

Pakistan is not a signatory of that treaty.

i have seen my grandfather KSa nationals license ... in which it was writen u can drive in any area n in any country ...

if the country you are driving have to have permission from govt simply Go and show ur license and Get it stamped by their Govt (h) ...

Dada jee ko saudi national hone ka faeda (h) ...

hunnyahmed, I don’t want to get into a lengthy argument with you on this. An IDP can not be used by itself. It must be issued to a holder of a valid driving license and must be used in conjunction with it.

The question, should you ask your friend, would be: Does UK authorities accept Driver License issued in Pakistan a valid legal document conferring driving privileges on the holder? IDP is based on that license. If UK does not recognize Pakistani Driver’s License, what good is a document based on it?

I don’t know of any country that recognizes Pakistani Driver’s License as a valid document extending driving privileges in their jurisdiction.
