Yes, there is difference. I've driven both engines on long routes. The GD engine is at least 20% quieter (feel-wise) when you're driving or sitting at the front. However, in my personal opinion, the 1KD engine's sound in the Hilux Revo is much quieter than the previous Vigo due to extra sound insulation in the dashboard. Also, if it's your daily driver, you get used to the sound of 1KD engine of Revo.

Go for Ironman Leafsprings. I didn't go for them at the moment, because there's life remaining in my OEM leaf springs. Yes, Nurain Sheikh of Extreme4x4 has been my go-to guy for most modifications including bull bars. I've found that if you do your market research and price-check, Nurain normally gives a decent negotiated price.

M so used to with my 1KD that sometime when I drive FL-Revo 2.8 or my new fortuner it's super quiet but on full wot it's slightly louder than 1KD or it's different sound seem loud like it's about to redline. Even my kids was surprised to hear the instant sound change above 2.5k rpm of 1GD but I m missing the low end torque of my 1KD unichip Revo. I think I will have to add more mileage before going for unichip on new fortuner.

Btw now I know that the ride comfort I felt was mostly Thai shocks (only a little bit tyres) that come standard in early delivered vehicles while later on Agri Auto shocks have destroyed the ride quality of revo. anyone interested can read further below where Ahson Tariq sb. has explained the whole thing through his experience of over 6 years and over 100k kms with revo.

p.s I still think softer tyres coupled with raised height does reduce the bumps by shifting cg and general shock absorption of softer rubber. Although shocks are the biggest culprit in hard ride of later revos as per my analysis after reading tons of experiences here. I have heard the new 2022 revos ride is comfortable as well maybe they adjusted or improved the agri auto shocks. Do check if someone has it. I will too. Although i am the first one to buy a big 4x4 in my whole family as generally people are afraid of maintenance lol. if the new shocks are adjusted than maybe we can recommend people here to buy new lot of agri auto shocks and they will be good.

Yup gotten used to it but people who have never had a truck or diesel cars keep telling me its loud lol. Also scares my daughter on a cold start all in all I love the thing. cars now seem joyless somehow.
btw @ahsontariq bhai have you tried to check the top speed of your 1KD truck? what's the most it can do since you drive long routes often.

My kids love the daala. They prefer to travel in it over the new facelift GrandeX.

The only time I completely floored it was on Makran Coastal Highway when the Revo was just 5 days old in Dec 2016 with no modifications whatsoever and with stock tyres. I had 200kg of cargo in the deck, two adult, two kids and one infant in the back; and two adults in the front. It maxed out at 172 km/h max.

But I would certainly not recommend you flooring the Hilux like this. I only did it because I had quite a lot of weight in and at the back of the truck and knew it was stable and also the fact that it was a clean straight stretch on Makran Coastal Highway with no one in sight for miles.

Oh definitely it's a scary proposition. But as you once did i did too and once. I had only one passenger with empty trunk and it seemed to top out at 180km/h, did it pretty quick too. I lifted after maybe a minute or two after 180 maybe could have gone more. There is a lot of drag from wind resistance at those speeds, i could feel it. Also I have no tonneau cover that increases drag, I think my Revo has been maintained good as the performance is still there.
p.s. My kid loves it too when inside but as she is young at the age of 3 she gets cared when in complete silence it starts. she would definitely love it more ehen she grows up.

i have weighted both my 1kd revo and FL-Revo at my factory weighbridge (kanta scale) for heavy pickup and lightpickup trucks, to my surprised my revo 1kd weight is 2210kg with half tank and FL-Revo 1GD was less than 2150kg with 3/4 tank fuel. Even my drivers said the body panel of FL-REvo is very thin n easily pressed compare to 2017 Revo. Maybe Agri auto shocks/suspension r not made for older REvo due to weights or need to change everything with leafsprings.

Interesting info, yes the Engine cc does put more weight to the car. Almost 125 kg difference. No matter the added weight as Ahson Tariq experimented, putting the sagri auto on the same car gave him a rougher ride. the issue is agri auto shocks. maybe leaf springs are ok.

Not only the engine CC, 1KD got the iron block and strongest diesel iron-block like the famous Toyota 2jz iron block. 1GD is aluminum block which is quite lighter than 1KD engine but I guess overall 2017 Revo body panels r heavier than FL-Revo. Next I m gonna weigh my new Fortuner, I think shocks/suspension and leafsprings of Agri auto is using lightweight material. Maybe my 1KD Revo ironman suspension/shocks r heavier than oem.

Could be the case. Just had a run on my car today and every time it makes me smile the torque on it is such an addiction. i also have throttle controller on my car and it makes accelerating the car even more fun.

oh u r missing the fun of unichip , instant torque from 1k rpm and around 550+nm torque. BTW did anyone of u guys had changed transmission oil?
