yep i had confused it with the mono...

sir is this new amp a replacement for the SStream? how much is it for...

anyway, these days i am stuck deciding between the following 3 dvd players for the corolla....dubaraa keera ho raha hai

JVC KW-AVX810 DVD (rs 45k)
pioneer AVH-4250 DVD (rs 40k)
or
Chinese OEM fitting corolla player (15-18k)

Sir due to many reasons, i wud stick to the Pioneer HU.

forget about the Chinese the are not reliable.

yes the chinese do come with warranty, but are you willing to remove the HU again and again from your car to claim the warranty and get it repaired over n over?

i myself am inclined towards pioneer...i dont need optical audio signal (only in 6050 dvd)..so 4250 is fine.

yar chinese is good looks wise. but two major flaws:

-plastic is too plasticky
-every rolla owner has one in his car now

and now u mentioned reliability.

anyway, i also read amazing reviews of the JVC on crutchfield etc

haan but resale value and availability of parts is an issue with JVC.

You only need digital output to connect to a DSP.

Lafafa i would recommend to stick with pioneer instead of JVC, although JVC is also gud no doubt, but resale value and parts may create problem if required in future.
Secondly, pioneer is compatible with most of the unit as far as further modification is concerned however with JVC you need to get specific matching unit.

i had gone out to the local audio market to checkout some units. and the shopkeepers said the same. that pioneer has excellent resale. guess its important. but i have seen, DVD players loose alot of their value when u sell them.

anyway, thank you both. wont discuss this further here. dont want to hijack STJ's fine thread

i think he is referring to the kind of door panels that steve meade has on his tahoe. there is a whole page and video on his youtube channel outlining the built process. it is worth a visit. i too am planning to do something like that when i get time and money.

stj174@ Let me know which car are you going to install so i can try to find an install.Do remember also that you must have to sacrifice the door panel if you dont have enough clearance for the speaker.A better option would be buying used door panels.
madhouse12@ Indeed sort of what steve did but that is extreme.I have gone thorugh several build threads which looks toatlly OEM(nice and clean).

By fiberglassing the door panel gives you the oppotunity to direct the speakers towards yourself gives best sound.Door pod like this would be one of the choices.

I think i will go with the stock look.
I checked the graphs of the woofer/mid, they actually perform better off-axis compared to on-axis.
Yes the mounting depth is an issue. maybe for that i might need some fiber glassing.

I had something like this in mind.. What do you think.?

Sir the idea is real nice. the guy from done by my hand seems like a pro in this kind of stuff. too bad he is in karachi and for this sort of thing u need the car to be there to check the original fitting.

when u mentioned that u have access to lathe machines, it gave me an idea. do u have a lathe that can work on wood? i have an idea i wanted to try...
