Assalamulaikum all. Hope you're all doing well.
Lately, I've started facing a strange issue that has me going up the wall. The car in question is my G101 Charade which has a 2nz-fe swapped into it. Its been running great Alhamdulillah but lately, what happens is, the car starts up fine when cold, runs fine but when I park it somewhere and the engine is warm (operating temperature) and I start it after 5-10 minutes, it wouldnt start. It would crank fine but it just doesnt start. I leave it alone for about half an hour to 45 minutes, and it starts fine. If I start it right after parking it, it would start fine as well. But if I let it stand for a few minutes, it doesn't. I've tried cranking it upto 10-15 seconds and still its a no go. Doesnt even try to start.
Things that I've checked:
1. Pulse at the injectors and coils.
I connected leds to the injectors and the coils and ran the car for 2-3 days like that. When I get the starting issue, both the injectors and the coils have pulse like they normally do.
2. Power at the injectors, coils, ecu.
I've also checked power at the coils, injectors and the ecu and they get the power fine when its not starting.
3. Replaced the crank sensor.
Before connecting leds to check pulse, I also replaced the crank sensor just to check if it helps. It didnt. Checked continuity at the crank sensors wires as well.
4. Replaced all relays, re-did connections.
I've replaced all the relays that give power to the ecu, fuel pump, injectors and coils, suspecting that some relay may be faulty. While I was at it, I also opened all the places that had joints / soldering and checked them and re-did a couple of joints that I suspected.
5. Checked the fuel pump.
The fuel pump is holding its pressure fine and also runs when the starting issue occurs. I can hear the fuel pump running in the tank and splashes of fuel from the return in the tank as well. If I open a fuel line at the time, the fuel comes out with pressure. I've also checked by taking off the fuel line and putting my thumb on it. Its producing good enough pressure. I also took out the fuel pump a little from the fuel tank to see it running in the tank. All fine. Its getting around 12.5v and a little higher with the car running.
6. Error codes.
Its not throwing any error codes, I've checked with Techstream and all looks fine.
7. STA Pin.
I've also checked the current on the STA wire while cranking and its getting the signal fine.
8. Replaced plugs.
I've replaced the plugs as well with Denso ones. (Previous ones installed were NGK iridium ones)
Flustered, I'm turning to the good people at the forum to guide me as to what I may be missing. There's something that's slipping my mind that I should check but I just cant put my finger on it, with the issue constantly being at the back of my head.
@Xulfiqar Any help from you would be really appreciated and other knowledgeable members as well.
P.S. The engine doesnt seem to be flooding either for any reason and its not running rich either. Exhaust is clean, plugs are light/chocolate brown. No black smoke either.
