Suggest me a car in between 18-20 lacs

Kindly suggest me a car in between this range.
I am confused between buying a local made car or imported, need your suggestion.
I have few cars in my mind.
Local: Corolla, City, Swift.
Imported: Insight, Aqua, Prius.

You didn't mention which transmission you're going for. However, a used 2017-2018 GLi 1.3 manual may fall in your budget. It will have airbags and some features. It will also retain a good resale value.

I'd say avoid buying a JDM, the cars you took the name of are hybrids, no one is importing hybrids that much, the ones you're looking for will be Pakistani used, therefore, the auction sheet will hold no value anymore. The car might be meter tampered, etc. And you don't want that in a hybrid car as the batteries are pretty much on their last leg when people resell it in Pakistan.

Therefore, a good conditioned Corolla or City is the way to go. If you want the airbags to open when you crash, go for Corolla, if not, then City is your best bet.

Find me one.
Even 2014 model GLi new shape is now 20 above

If you want a sedan, I would suggest you a used Corolla GLi 2014/15 or City 2015/16
If you want sunroof and cruise control type things then you can go for Corolla Altis 2011/12.
If you want a new hatchback, then get Picanto or Cultus. Picanto has better build quality and Cultus has better resale market.

Let me eradicate your confusion:

Only consider locally assembled, PKDM car.

JDMs may be avoided, as in budget of 18-20 lac PKR, it is almost next to impossible to get a neat and clean 2015-2016 model, unregistered Vitz, Passo / Boon, with auction grade at least 4-4.5 / above, with verifiable auction sheet, and fresh import.

The ones already in market and registered, like an year or two old model, can be bought in this budget, but then again, their condition, odometer reading, etc. can be a big question mark, and risks may be involved.

660 cc cars may also be avoided.

Prefer at least 1000 cc in hatchback, and 1300 cc in Sedan.

And also decide that you want a hatchback or a Sedan?

Still, priority wise:

1. Corolla
2. City

Swift may be sincerely avoided, due to multiple reasons.

Imported: Insight, Aqua, Prius.

My sincere suggestion to not consider any of them, considering your 18-20 lac PKR budget.

Well... If interested in hatchback, then you may also consider brand new, Zero meter, locally assembled, PKDM Kia Picanto (preferable) or Suzuki Celerio / Cultus.

PKDM Wagon R may be sincerely avoided, any variant of it.

Look for a good 1.6 Gli or Altis 2012-13 model.
They are priced in-between 17-20lacs.

I guess you're right. I didn't expect the brand new Gli(s) to be listed at 30 lakhs. And the used ones are at 25 lakhs. Such an immense price hike.

Suzuki Ciaz 2017
Suzuki swift can be considered last option because in your budget you will get better condition/newer swift as compared to other options

but if your priorities are automatic, then exclude Civic from above list because you will not get in your budget

Get a local assembled car, maybe a 2014-2015 Gli 1.3 Manual, 2011-2014 Altis 1.6 Cruisetronic or 1.6 Gli Auto, City 2013-2014 or even a Ciaz if u can find one. Swift should be avoided, build quality is pathetic, has a 1300CC engine, gives fuel average of an 1800CC car and tax registration will be of a 1500CC car so it's of no use. Good Aqua's are 25+, Prius will be 2008-2010 model (very old with weak batteries), while Insight will have resale problem and brand new spare parts will be a pain in the ass to source. You can even find a 2012 (late)- 2013 Manual Civic Rebirth but ofcourse will not be likely to have a genuine body and it could have high mileage. But still worth a try to find one as it's a great car with decent fuel average considering it's a 1.8l. Good luck!
