Suggested coolant for Corolla 2007

Dear Gentlemen. I intend to buy coolent for my corolla 2007. it is 75000 km driven. Please suggest a best one_ and is it really usefull?

toyota sells it. Buy the concentrate and cut with distilled water to make it.

Its coolant not coolent , Toyota one costs around 1200rs alternative to that would be Guard anti rust coolant which is only 300rs . Both coolants are RED

Red while it lasts- and that's not for such a long period. I have all kind of complaints against Guard antifreeze.
It loses its dye colour, becomes clear and leaves its colour on your cooling system internals.
It precipitates out and leaves milky residue, even in a control sample outside radiator.
It's not super pro against rust and not very effective to lubricate cooling system.
It drops its pH from 10 to 7 within 2 to 3 months.

If you wanna go for the best one, try to find Glysantin antifreeze. It comes packed in 1.5litre bottle, for 1500 rupees- which is good enough to be used in 1:3 with water- that makes it cheaper than any other high end product. And the fact remains that Glysantin produces the BEST antifreeze in the world.

I'd vote for Glysantin antifreeze. It comes packed in 1.5litre pack for 1500 rupees, which is good enough to be used in 1:3 with water.

Dupatta rang, biryani rang, coolant rang; stop discrimination against dyes. All dyes are made equal.

Really? So that is the reason for low price? Just got the rad drained and filled with this coolant today. I used Glysantin last time and that degraded really bad too. Could be something to do with the car standing since summers and i just started it since , even then it should not have changed its color to orange/yellow-ish over time. The whole cooling system was flushed and cleaned before filling coolant. Could also have something to do with the engine being a rotary and extreme lahore heat (June)

You did try Glysantin? Which one? It shouldn't degrade at all, not inside the rotary, not with the heat either. Did you neutralize the system after the flush?
If you're concerned, I would suggest that you should buy a cheap pH meter, or at least a 100 rupee roll of litmus paper to keep the track of your cooling system.

Dont really remember exact but it was a white bottle , the guys at motorworks got it for me i paid like 1300rs and it was 1.5l

if your coolant changed its colour when inside the engine the cooling system was probably adulterated with something else - e.g. if you mix the original dark green mazda coolant with toyota red coolant the whole coolant charge will become ink black.

When filling coolants it is always a good idea to flush the whole system out to ensure you are starting from scratch. This way you know what is in there (control specification). Ideally you need to flush it with distilled water, you can also use a 20 or 30 litre bucket of distilled or RO water with a hose pipe nipple on its bottom and connect it to a heater pipe in the car and make sure the bucket is elevated above the level of the car. Let the water flush it out. If you are crafty you can use a small fountain pump or even an inverter pump from a Prius. It will pump water through the system very nicely. Once done and clean - fill exactly half quantity of coolant concentrate in the car and top up with distilled water.

Your mazda was factory filled with FL22 coolant which is really dark green and has a service life of 200,000 kms. Did you lose it to leak?

Well before i left Pakistan i got the cooling system flushed and got the expensive coolant filled so there was no way any old coolant / water remained. For sure the system was empty before filling in anything else. After i came back the inside of expansion tank was yellow/orange color , got that drained out yesterday and all that came out was indeed yellow/orange

Im afraid the FL22 coolant is long gone as the car had a slight leak after the purchase (2007)

In your opinion the Toyota red coolant will work fine?

I seriously suspect the coolant you put in was not a good item. I have put caltex coolant in big volvo trucks with EGR coolers and even at those crazy high EGR temperatures the coolant colour would not change a bit. remained pink/orange tint. And about filling the system, unless you actively flushed out the system with clean water there is no way to gravity drain the whole cooling system along with heater matrix in an RX7 or 8 - coolant will get trapped in it.

The toyota red is a nice coolant but has a service life of 2 to 3 years or at max 50,000 kms. its a bit more expensive than others too. The BASF glysantin line of coolants has been better to use speaking of performance and fill life in my experience.

Carefully select which glysantin product. They make quite a lot of different ones.

when I lived in Pakistan there was no Pyro brand of coolant - so I cannot comment.

The toyota is sold as both premix and concentrate. It would say on the package. The caltex is only sold as concentrate as far as I know, you need to cut the concentrates down by 50% to use effectively, Do not run 100% coolant in your engine, it will overheat very badly.
