During this summer i got car's heater deactivated, now since weather here in lahore has changed i was wondering if i could turn the heater on without visiting the AC wala, can it be done or i'll have to visit him. car is mehran

open ur hood. near the rear wall u will see a rubber pipe in u shape connected to body at both ends. same will b on rear of engine. take 1 end out from each pipe & connect engine pipe to body & vice versa.

make sure you flush the inner radiator core before connecting the coolant pipes.

bro. when i visited the ac wala this summer right next to my car a toyota hilux was being done and under its hood on driver's side wall there was an instruction pasted which read as" گرمیوں میں اے سی کی بہتر کارکردگی کے لئے ہیٹر کو بند کروا لیں" that's where i got the idea :-p

thats a very silly message, when the select lever is moved in nearly all standard jap cars except Subaru the heater valve actually opens and closes Unless you are opening and closing it continously or the driver does not know how to work the A/C unit of the car then its another case.

In a Subaru and most euro cars the heater is constantly heated and the lever just opens the flap doors to direct airflow through it or above it.

In either case if the select lever is on cold the heater wont interfere, and keeping it dry for such long periods of time will ensure it develops scale and rust.

Well, Xulfiqar bhai it is necessary to close the heater unit in mehran and other old cars due to weak AC system.

The HVAC box is made as such that unless you select the heat function the diverter flaps and the the heater valve do not open. How can it interfere?

Sir, What is a heater valve ? I dont think khyber or mehran has it, they just have diverter flap with a bad or missing sealing foam.

this happens i.e the heater interferes with the ac.this is due to the sealing of ducts leave its place by the time...my margalla 95 does that and after getting heater disconnected i got the heater hose covered with rubber plug and got the plug clamped-in desi terms rubber plug is termed as "band piepian"

hamaray A/C waaley jiyale jawaan will do anything to increase the chill from the vents but nothing to contain it. Doors with missing plastic skins causing humidity and hot air to fill the cab etc. HVAC boxes leaking air everywhere.

Zulfiqar bhai, even my cultus starts throwing hot air full cool selection in summers (without AC). My guess is the coolant keeps coming in the heater coil and there are some leaks in air isolation from heater at max cold selection.

So what these AC walas do is they cut that extra loss of chill by disabling the coolant supply.

Someone once advised to clear out the heater coil (when bypassing) by air hose so that all resident water/coolant come out leaving no moisture in coil. Next plug the hoses going in the cabin with polyethene sheet and a clamp. That way oxygen supply would be reduced to cause further rust inside. But that can be a myth.

@Xulfiqar bhai, I got my margalla plus's AC system overhauled by Sabir 2 days back. The compressor, drier filter bottle and condensor fan motor were replaced on Thursday 1st April 2021 since the old compressor was leaking oil and refrigerant but the cooling was not bad.

On 2nd of April 2021, I had noticed that the cooling had deteriorated further after the work and paid a visit to sabir to get the system checked. Upon inspection, the system had carbon deposits running, hence the entire ac was dismantled again on tuesday 6th April 2021. the lines, passages, condenser and coil were washed and the compressor was again replaced. the cooling was amazing on the night the system was installed however since yesterday i have noticed that the cooling has again deteriorated. i paid a visit to sabir again and this time he is insisting to disconnect the heater lines.

Please advise whether this is the right thing to do.

when the cooling has deteriorated, make sure the ac is infact working at its full potential, meaning suction and liquid lines are showing correct pressure at the manifold.

Once that is certain, then find out why the vent temperature is not desired. It maybe due to a bad heater door inside the HVAC box in the dashboard.

Dont disconnect the heater as it will cause further issues down the road, they usually rot out if left disconnected and filled with a bit of rusty water.
