Assalamo alaikum everyone
I have a 1.3 ltr carbuerator engine in my 1992 Sunny. Recently, the thermostat valve stopped working and I failed to notice it before the gasket blew and the radiator leaked. Anyway, I replaced the radiator and the head gasket recently. Apparently, despite the caution used by the mechanic, the timing chain did not fit at the exact spot where it was supposed to. Once the mechanic started the engine, he moved the distributor to try to adjust it. Unfortunately, it turned out that the optimal position for the distributor was beyond the extreme of the slot in the distributor body. Now, the bolt is holding the distributor over it's body and does not pass through the adjustment slot in the distributor body. I'll try to post an image of the thing later. He said that it is because the timing chain is slightly off, so we have to compensate for it by this.
The car starting in the morning is really hard now. Even though the weather is really cold here, the car has always started easily. Yesterday and today, the car took really hard self. Sort of like ghroom, then silence for a second, then ghroom and so on. After several tries, with a slight foot on the accelerator, the car started.
Could this be related to a shifted timing chain? Or simply because tappets are too tight?
Thanks
