Sunny Got New Filters :P

Hi All!

Today was an interesting day, and a very heavy one on my pocket as well

Today, I got new filters as per recommendations of @spectra and @imranbhatti as these were due....

One thing, which I would like to mention is that when I replaced my previous air filter, I noticed that the housing underneath it was very dusty, so I had to clean air filter housing as well....

I went to Montgomery Road, Abid Autos at around 11:30 AM and asked for filters. I needed fuel filter and air filter. Plus I had to buy radiator flush and coolant.

They showed me two kinds of products.

1. Genuine.
2. Malaysian made.

As I noticed there was a significant difference in quality and also I wanted to buy best for my car, so i opted for genuine products.

They costed me a lot, but will worth it Inshallah.

Here is what I purchased.

Nissan CD20 Fuel Filter = Rs. 3500
Nissan CD20 Air Filter = Rs. 1850
Pyro Coolant 4 Liters = Rs. 480
Liqui Moly Radiator Flush = Rs. 750
Brush for cleaning = Rs. 80
Carosine Oil = Rs. 80
Petrol for my bike = Rs. 300
Petrol for me = Rs. 200

The Liqui Moly Radiator Flush, it was also expensive than my expectations Bought it from Filter House, Lahore. It was the only piece left. They were offering Ma-Fra radiator flush, but I have not heard or tested that before, also, Liqui Moly was suggested by saqib bhai i.e. @spectra.

Okay, the next up is Pyro.

Filter House did not have it. They were offering ABRO coolant, that was made by USA as per them. It was for about Rs. 1400/- for 4 liters, but @imranbhatti suggested that we might have to face leaks after using Radiator flush, so we should for the time being use a moderate coolant rather than expensive one, so opted for it.

Okay, the next up - Fuel filter

The old air filter from Lep-On I bought it for Rs. 400

Let's open the new one and check it out....

Here it is.

Now some info. It is the red one, which is soaked with oil. The dry one (which comes in yellow color) is used in N16 now a days, and is used for petrol versions. It is however of Rs. 2600/- as of 03/02/2013. Prices are increasing :(.

The shine on the wrapper of filter is because of oil.

Okay, so after stocking all things in the trunk, I went ahead and opened the bonnet to clean the housing of the air filter as it was very dirty the last time i changed my air filter......

Okay, here is the situation now...

and here comes the first surprise....

as soon as I put out the first and far most portion of the air filter housing, which is a small one, what i found underneath it was a cloth lying :(. I was surprised what it is doing there. It was all soaked with dust as well :(.....

Getting it out ...... What was it doing ?? blocking the air ???

Okay, now let's move forward and remove the air filter housing itself.....

First i dismantled the upper portion.

Okay, as you can see it is quite clean from the inside, so it means that the dirt is not passing through the filter and going to the engine, so it was kind of relief to see......

But here comes the dirty part ... the direct air flow portion of the filter housing, above which filter is placed......

you can see a lot of dust settled in there quite nicely and for quite some time i guess. Nobody bothered to clean it. May be its not necessary, but I was definitely not going to let it rest there as it was very annoying....

The second thing i noticed was that it was attached with three bolts in the inside to the body. So to dismantle it, I decided to open up the bolts....

The first one came out after a bit of struggle..... You can see that these are a bit rusty .... do not know any solution to those yet ....

Second one required greater effort than the first one, but was out after some time as well...
