One more thing that most of the fuel station is selling pathetic petrol quality. Better if you try few litres of SHELL V power first or you can use PSO high octaine too. Don't go for any throttle/plug service. Something wrong with your fuel which you just poured in. Next step is to check valve clearance means tappet. It has hydraulic tappets and if one of them has no clearance it is also a reason of bad knocking. You can fix that with one good kharadiya. In worst case scenario you have to replace its head assembly.

Kindly try to use right engine oil as it manual suggests 10w-30 api SH and 5w-30 with api SG means old grade/spec oil. Don’t ever use higher grade api like SL, SM and SN in this particular engine. Once we keep using higher grades, it makes the valvejs weaker and we start hearing bad knocking. I have experienced it by using Total synthetic oil 5w-30 and ended up with replacement of head assembly to get rid of knocking. I am using currently 10w-40 by Mobil 1 semi synthetic oil but next time I will also try to find api SH oil and I heard that it’s available in havoline.

Its K6A engine. When i was using Total petrol no knocking was present but once i filled it with pso man that car was knocking badly. Then i poured half tank ok shell v power initially it was ok but i think i should for finish this tank completely. I don’t want to touch throttle or plugs because these cars are sensitive and dumb mechanic rather of solving problem will make another problem.

This is real problem these engines require SG SH SJ same like mehran alto etc but they are equiped with cat cons

yes (HA25s) this is an old spec engine having rocker arm tappets which works better with old spec engine oil. Its manual suggests 5w-30 api SG and 10w-30 api SH. you will find the closest match api SJ which is available in Havoline. Above grades will screw this engine and you always face knocking. Better if you use only api SJ grade engine oil instead of SL, SM and SN. If you find api SJ in ZIC, you can use that too, viscosity (10w-30/10w-40) doesn't effect much but API does...

I guess you out the wrong engine oil as 10w is quite thicker and not recommended for this engine. Please check the hood carefully and there must be recommended oil grade mentioned already. Your engine seems dba-ha36s r06a and it performs better with 0w-20/5w-30 fully synthetic. You will feel better pick with these engine oil grades instead of 10w-30. Further, there's no need to change gear oil until you feel jerk in shifting and no need to mess with coolant fluid too.

Need your help regarding my Suzuki Alto 660 cc 2007 model. 3-4 mechanics unable to diagnosed and troubleshot the car. Please suggest any good mechanic in Karachi having knowledge of scanners/software and other electrical and electronic problems. Car is vibrating and not going to be static in neutral and parking gears after heat up. I will be thankful.

I am in Lahore dear and don’t have any idea about Karachi. Please ask someone who belongs to Karachi. Regarding engine vibration, go for a tuning first and next consult with that mechanic to identify the problem.

In Alto 2014, we are getting brake LED turned ON in speedometer, after getting it checked from mechanic in Islamabad he says issue is with brake pads and needs replacement, now when checked in market (Bao Mohallah & Gawalmandi, Rawalpindi & Islamabad) one comes across many different qualities and makes of brake pads, price range from Rs 4500 to Rs 1000 per pair for front brake shoes set, kindly suggest what are the best options, and which is the recommended place in twin cities to get the brake servicing done on 2014 Alto.

I don’t know right place about RWP/ISB but I would strictly recommend to use disk pads having price around 4500/-. Don’t ever compromise on disk pads like if you purchase one around 1000-1500 and after some time you will start hearing weird noise coming out of your disks against pushing paddle and those pads will ruin the wheel too by producing lines on that.

Dear Members,

I just bought a Alto 2013 model. The car was not giving me good mileage so I got it checked today by a mechanic and he told that the catalytic converter "jali" had to be cleaned which was choked. He poured some chemical in it to clean it. After turning the car on for sometime engine check light appeared. Upon connecting the computer to it, the error was of the O2 sensor. He cleared it but the check light again came on after the next startup.

Now the mechanic is saying that the sensor was beforehand not working and was not throwing error because the "jali" was choked. Now that its clean now, the error is being shown and the sensor is not getting any reading. Could this be true, what he is saying as I beleive that he must have damaged the sensor while removing or installing it. If the sensor was not working before it should have shown it already. Need some help in this regard so I might talk to him then.
