I have a 2007 JDM alto A/T. The initial mileage on long route was 18 km/l. A car buff friend removed its catalytic converter and fuel injectors were cleaned. The car started giving 25km/liter on long route. Then I made a disaster. I bought the wrong sized tires for it. The OEM tire was 145mm wide. The ones available in the market were 155. So I bought them and still repenting. Its again on 17/18 km/liter.

The car is very sensitive to clogged air filter. I use Leppon (PKR 700) airfilter. The car accelerates good when the filter is clean. As soon as it starts getting dirty after 2/3 weeks, the acceleration and mileage reduces significantly. There is another local brand ZenTec. Its filters are also good.
Overall its a good car. But stick to OEM size tire.

Bro The OEM size for this alto has two options. The later being 155/65 R13. Which i am using as well.. We need road grip as well bro. Risking your's and your loved ones lives just to get those Good for nothing 1.5 - 2 Kms extra per liter is not a good deal.

Catalytic converter has a tendency to get choked due to low quality of petrol in Pakistan. And when it starts choking, the engine performance decreases significantly.
I drive at 80/90 KM and I am light on gas pedal.

Catalytic convertor only gets clogged if there is oil coming out in the exhaust.
Common reasons = Weak Piston Rings / Worn Out Valve seals.
Low quality fuel OR even lowest quality fuel does not clog Catalytic Convertors.

JDM ALto's radio antenna is broken. The base is there but metal part is missing. What options do I have?

And from where in Rawalpindi, I can get JDM alto's fuel filter.

Antenna would be used as of a standard antenna. No special antenna required...
There is no separate fuel filter for this Alto.. Its a non replacing filter attached to the fuel pump located inside the fuel tank.

Strange !! My friends 2009 pino had 4 speed auto tranny.. I,ve never seen any PINO with 3 speed tranny.. Only Alto comes in 3 speed Tranny

I also don't know to check if its 4 gears or 3 But i think you can check from gear shifting. how many times it shift in a run.
Sir you can never find appropriate mileage by 10 liters. Get your tank full and calculate its mileage on next tank.

The sticker on the ECU tell the Gears. Mine is auto with 3 gears , so the sticker says 3A/T which means 3 gears Auto Transmission.
Umer's car would have the sticker 4 M/T means 4 gears and Manual Transmission... Alongwith many other codes on the sticker you will have to look for this 3AT or 4MT written on it.. I havent come across any Alto Auto whcih has 4 gears, Yes PINO auto is 4 A/T

From almost everywhere . Hyper-milling says that lower the rpm, lower the fuel consumption.
Get your tank filled till top. set trip A/B to 0. Record the total Km's you travelled in this tank. when your fuel finishes get your tank filled again till top and check how much liters it took to re-fill. divide covered KMs with the total liters your tank was fulled. You will get mileage per liter.

Yes!!! Thats the only 100% accurate way to check mileage.. By this pactice you dont get the average Infact you get the accurate fuel consumption.

Bro the lesser the gears the higher the rpm required. Although the case with 3 speed Auto Tranny is a bit different.
As our cars have 3 gears , But their gear ratio is different from the ratios of a 4 speed auto e.g PINO's gear ratio.
Our gears have longer ratios as they are only 3 and the top speed of the car is the same as of 4AT and 3AT.
Dont worry about the gears being 3 or 4. The only way to get good mileage is to change your route and your driving habbits.
My office is 17Km away from my home. there are 2 routes to my office from home, 1 is 15 kms and the other is 17km. I choose the 17km route , Why ?? because it has clear roads and less start stop points. No sudden braking spots. I drive constantly on 55Km/hr - 60Km/hr both ways. and i get 17.8 Km/l these days as the aircon is off these days. Now when i travel on the 1st route which is 1.5kms lesser but i get fuel average of 15km/hr.
Then comes hypermiling. The fuel your car has in it is of your hard earned money! The more you save it the more you go further.. I foresee the traffice lights from a distance of more than 500meters and react accordingly. Its its red then i simple put my car in Neutral and coast till the stop line. This gives me 400 - 500 meters free of cost! same is the case when i stop on red lights and if there is timer installed at the signal light and timer shows more than 60 seconds for the light to turn green , I simply switch off my car.
In order to save fuel , One must adopt these techniques. Then i try to use less brake and only taking foot off the accelarator. Like if you see the car front of you applying brakes, its not necessary that you reach up to the tail of that car and then apply brakes, Rather i take my foot off and it then gives me around 3 - 4 seconds more to analyse the situation and react accordingly . Most of the time the way becomes clear and i dont need to apply brakes instead i again accelerate and gain momentum.

Otherwise i was getting 14Km/liter in winters and 12Km/liter in summers with A/C... So now i am saving BIG on fuel with these simple techniques.

both are same. Just one of them is the face lift model.

Alto has Indicators attached to the headlights inwards. and the newer model has indicators in rectangular shape in the bumpers. Where as Nissan PINO has separate round shaped indicators in the front bumper. Mazda carol has same like Alto indicators.

Just got the car fueled up again. I had reset the trip A and Avg meter last time after top up and it took 28.3 liters to top up this time and trip A's reading was 584.5. So, the Avg comes out to be 584.5/28.3= 20.65 Km/L MashAllah. Car's Avg meter was showing 20.4 Km/L.

This is my JDM Alto 2010. Only thing I hate about this car is the rear phatta seat. Have searched a lot in chah sultan for sofa seats but either it is not available aur jab kisi k pas mil jaye then they ask outrageous prices like 25k-30k so haven't done something about it yet.

I have a 2010 alto too. it has the auto gear box with overdrive. i guess its a CVT. It manages 480-490kms in 28 liters. at times actually raha nahi jata without speed n i get the urge to speed up for brief amounts of times.

Have u removed the catalytic converter?

See the picture below of current fuel usage and fuel left in the car. i use the fuel till reserve light comes on and get the whole tank filled never below full fuel.

Also i have to get 8-10liters of hi-octane otherwise the car starts knocking. Ru using regular fuel? if yes which company fuel ru using?

in other news i do give the car 1-2 minutes after the cold light is turned off. i dont drive it while the car is getting to normal hot temperature.

yaar auto ka maza nahin. plus it's heavy on fuel as well. I'll get the OEM sofa seats jab kabhi paisay save ho gaye itnay insha Allah. Phatta seat modify ker k guzara chal raha hai filhal.

Na bro I haven't removed the CAT converter. I use regular fuel and I get it filled only from PSO pump which is in front of Jinnah Park. Japan main shayad waqai ye gari 30+ ki avg dey jaye cuz of their excellent fuel quality and roads but yahan boht mushkil hai. plus 35kmpl wali avg claimed figure is for the model with start/stop option.

I do feel the car knocking a little bit while going up hill on low rpms so I just downshift and that stops the knocking. And yes it is an excellent thing to let the car come up to working temperature before driving it off.

Personally i have removed the Cat Con, but I dont recommend others as removing didnt make any difference in my car except for the exhaust noise a little loud and en-even.. The only reason is that , to remove the cat con you need to break it ! Hence you cannot put it back if not satisfied. So thats why i dont recommend.
If you really want to experience then whenever you come to Lahore, we can interchange the barrels of our cars. Its just bolt on. No welding required. You can use my car's barrel which is without the cat con to check.This way you will be 100% sure if cat con removal works on your car.
