In a recent interview, the Divisional Head of Marketing, Pak Suzuki confirmed that the PKDM Alto is getting latest R series engine. A good news.

It has R06A engine. If this is the engine that Pakistani version has then this is the latest engine. Must be a very good engine for our local use.

Keeping in mind Pak Suzuki's track record, there's a very high probability of them using the K06a engine for the local alto. fingers crossed for R06a though.

Lol. Pak suzuki engineers are not capable enough to shove k06a engine in place of R06A and compromise on stability and durability. So the engine would be same as of International variant.

Yes its probably R06A, but paksuzuki variants didmt usually have international variant engines. Hence I was surprised to.

The Alto 2001-2012 didnt had the k06 engine in Pakistan as the Japanese variant has, and it can not be fitted in a local alto without alterations

Secondly this is the first time a 660cc is being assembled outside Japanese domestic market.

Alto has been replaced by celerio in other Asian and European markets. India has it's own version of Alto which is for Indian market only. This alto exists in Japan and Pakistan only.

So for Pakistani market, Suzuki will bring back an old engine which has already been replaced by a newer engine!! What a foolish logic it will be on part of Suzuki Japan to re produce a discontinued engine just because some cynical Pakistani consumers would have you believe it.
