Suzuki Bolan Tappet noice

Salam:
I have Suzuki bolan 2005 and now a days i am caught by a great problem and i am much worried about this problem. No mechanic is seem to me technical hand all are Lakeer k fakeer (Jo ustad ny sikha dia us sy agay kuch nahi ata).
tappet are making so much noise (like tik tik) i have adjusted 0.01 (0.25mm) and at this setting CNG mileage is 120km per Cylinder on Motorway and 80-85km local and speed goes to 105km/h easily but tappet noise is too much, both on cold and hot engine.
if i adjust the tappet to 0.004 (0.1033) or 0.002 (0.05mm) then tappet noise reduces very much but speed hardly goes to 95-100km/h and CNG mileage reduced to 100-110 km per cylinder on Motorway and engine feels load.
i have adjust the tappet to many gap setting but if reduce the noise then CNG mileage also reduces and speed also reduces. and if i loose the tappets then noise occurs but performance increases.
Experts suggestions are welcome...

seems like you need to remove the tappet rockers and shafts to measure wear. Mechanics call it Baansuri (as in flute) aur chirdiya (as in bird) cut gayee hai.

Dear Xulfiqar,, one of the mechanic at shalimar GT road has told me that valves (tappets) are wear out thats why they are making noise and he advised me to change valves, use FUJI valves and also change rings otherwise car will make blow.. i am confused what should i do...Can you tell me the exact tappet gap which is recommended for suzuki bolan engine?

That tappet wear out is exactly what I wrote. You can buy a complete new set for your car, the valves would be ok though. and the gaps are

0.13 - 0.18mm - both side valves, measured on cold engine at correct TDC.

set multimeter to Hz - put probe to measure Hz on coil negative, the engine is 3 cyl and the ignition system fires 3 times per revolution.. So here is very basic math

45 Hz x 60 / 3 = 900 which is rpm in your case.

Helps when you dont have any sort of tacho to refer to.

p.s. 45 Hz signal is measured at coil negative.

@Zulfiqar:Thanking you for your valuable suggestion, i have checked the tappet rockers and shaft and both seemed to be quite fine. One problem i have detected is the tips of 3 valves which hits the rocket arms are lightly weared out (tips are pressed), do you think valves needs to be replaced? and one thing more if i replace the valves then should i need to replace the Ring+Piston also? Currently there is neither smoke nor engine oil level decrease problem (However little amount of engine oil flows towards Air Filter, i am currently using Zic A+ oil 5W/20 API SM/ILSAC GF-4)

If the rockers and shafts are good and the cam is good, then set the tappets to 0.15mm with each cylinder at correct TDC, do not eyeball the distributor rotor to guess the TDC of each cylinder, check the cam itself, If the rocker adjusters are mushroomed then best replace those screws. btw shaft/rocker clearance is measured with micrometer and internal caliper, wiggling or check by hand is not valid because it is a highly loaded part when the cam lifts the rocker.

Anyway. Check the distributor too, if the centrifugal advance is sticky or worn out the engine will not accelerate like it should.

so it means the weared out ends of valves has no issue? and there is no need to replace valve set? only i need to check rocker/shaft by using milimeter and replace rocker secrews.

The valve wear is measured at the big disc end (properly called hat) - the area where the tappets press it cannot mushroom - its case hardened at that area. Can you take a picture of what you are trying to describe?

valves were pressed from the tip (where rockers and valves strikes), cam and shaft were fine, i have replaced the valves (Fuji), tappet guides and also the rocker adjustments. all cost me about Rs.6500 and adjusted the tappet (intake 0.20mm and exhaust 0.25mm), now the tappet noise vanished.

mushroomed valve stems???????????? how did you get them out, destroy the guide in the process? and I have never seen a valve mushroom at that point. What were the old valves made of btw??

yes valves were mushroomed from stem side and they were local poor quality (Desi valves).. but there arose a new problem now,
2 out of 15 attempts when i start the engine, blue colored smoke comes out of silencer and then vanishes within 30 seconds. (this problem arose after valves replacement).. please tell me the reason of this smoke and is it a serious problem?

This was because of burning of oil, used for lubrication at the time of valve installation,So don't worry about it.

but i have drive the car almost 70km after the valves work and still the lubricant is there??? blue smoke cloud is observed 3 times till now.. do u think this smoke will vanish after some mileage?

if you are still seeing smoke and the engine is also reducing oil then the valve seals installed are either torn or something else is bad.

i am observing the level of engine oil, still level is OK. after some KM drive , i 'll report you the condition
