guys i changed engine oil to Total quartz at 15k, at that time my fuel avg 12.7 and now i am at 20k and my fuel avg has dropped to 12.2? why is that? before that i used Suzuki's own oil at 5k and 10k (10w-40) and fuel avg actually kept increasing slowly and gradually....

Anyone has any idea why this my fuel avg dropped when i changed oil to Total Quartz (5w-30) fully synthetic? Now what shall i do at 20k?

which oil shall i use this time and shall i also change the grade?

Maybe the oil you used was fake. Did you change oil filter too?

12.2 and 12.7 !!!
Thats not dropping fuel mileage, thats called variability and it happens when you change pumps or the pump guys are becoming naughty.
Besides this difference can also be due to different methods of checking fuel averages like 150km method, tank method or the ODO cluster avg !

yes oil filter was changed from Suzuki's to Guard filter....Oil i bought from Total pump at Shahra e Faisal, they said it is imported, their dealer pumps are the only source from where you can buy Total Oils...

Why not keep using the Suzuki own oils when its proving to be good to you......suggest u to keep using suzuki oil

Coz it is non synthetic or semi symthetic, technologically inferior.....So trying to find out what went wrong or if it is normal

Total quartz 9000 is far far superior than any suzuki .. Honda oil. Guard filter is a ziadati with your car. Your mileage is fine, this is normal variation. Quartz 9000 is second only to mobil1/ liquimoli ...

There is no difference in semi synthetic, fully synthetic or mineral oils if you change it every 5000kms and as a matter of fact mineral oils provide better lubrication but since they are usually thicker so they take some time to lubricate entire engine on cold starts hence the popular notion that engine damage is max in first 10mins of a cold start.
Anyhow Zic, Total or Suzuki oils, there isnt much difference as they are changed at 5000kms, so get the one 5w30 grade which is cheapest among em all !

There is a lot of difference betweensynthetic and semi one. Cars having 3-4 liters of oil are recommended for 5000oil change interval bhai. Difference feels after 3-4 years and in overall drive

Totally disagree, the is a HUGE difference in full synthetic and mineral oil. Additives added by the manufacturer in synthetic gives them long life and engine self cleaning properties that in turn increases engine's life. There are way many advantages of full synthetic oil which you can google
